The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) Limited is a State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) charged with the mandate to spearhead the Zambian Government’s commercial investments agenda aimed at strengthening Zambia’s industrial base and job creation. A need has arisen to fill the position of:
HEAD OF FINANCE-REPORTING
This position reports to the Chief Finance Officer. It proactively takes the lead in the coordination of the IDC Group’s consolidated financial reporting. This role is tasked to drive efficiencies, timely reporting, provide technical accounting advice and coordinate all IDC Group reporting. The role works very closely with all IDC subsidiary, associate and joint venture finance teams.
The position also directs and oversees the preparation and distribution of all periodic financial statements, for external use. The role takes a lead in ensuring that the group complies with statutory and regulatory financial reporting compliance.
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 Certificate.

Bachelor’s degree Finance, Accounting and/or equivalent Professional Qualification ACCA, CIMA, CA Zambia, or any other relevant field from a reputable university

Professional Membership with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountant (ZICA).

Master’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, and/or equivalent Professional Qualification in relevant field from reputable institution is an added advantage.

Seven (7) years relevant work experience in senior finance role or similar position.

2. JOB PURPOSE
To proactively take the lead in the coordinating and review of the department’s regular output and to manage the underlying Financial Reporting team. Drive efficiencies within the department and actively participate in any projects to develop the finance function as a whole and provide support to Chief Finance Officer. Provide finance generally with technical accounting advice and coordinate and run a tight control environment of the IDC Group books and records.
To direct and oversee the preparation and distribution of all periodic financial statements, for external use. Ensures that reports, filings, and documentation comply with IDC Regulations, Professional Standards, Security Exchanges Commission (SEC) and Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) reporting guidelines.
The position is a member of the Management Executive Committee.

Enhanced subsidiary oversight and support

Oversees and coordinates the production of the IDC Group Consolidated financial statements, period Group Management accounts.

Provides financial reporting support and reviews subsidiary reporting in line with the group requirements.
Departmental Planning and Budgeting

Provides input to the Chief Financial Officer into the departmental workplan and budget.

Minimises operational costs by ensuring that divisional expenditure remains within budget approval and savings made from budget.
Increased efficiency

Provides technical support to group companies to enhance financial reporting

Provides support explanation for major variances.

Prepares quarterly consolidated financial reports for inclusion in Board Committee packs

Coordinates the planning and preparation of all relevant working papers for external audit purposes.

Performance of group financial analyses and forecasts required to support Treasury functions

Issues regular group reporting instructions to ensure entities understand group reporting requirements.

Ensures operational efficiency through retention of right talent and automation of business processes.

Ensures a sound control environment to support the production of accurate financial reports.

4. ESSENTIAL/DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

Professional Qualification:

Grade 12 School Certificate

Bachelor’s degree Finance, Accounting and/or equivalent Professional Qualification ACCA, CIMA, CA Zambia, or any other relevant field from a reputable university
