Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty equipment used in mining and agricultural operations. This role demands expertise in earthmoving equipment and knowledge of K-pneumatics systems.
Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Maintenance and Repairs:
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in heavy-duty machinery.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and preventive checks on equipment.
- Repair and replace faulty components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulics.

Diagnostics and Troubleshooting:
- Use advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify mechanical failures.
- Address issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Implement corrective actions to ensure equipment operates at optimal performance.

Specialized Knowledge:
- Apply expertise in earthmoving equipment, such as loaders, bulldozers, and excavators.
- Utilize knowledge of K-pneumatics systems for diagnostics and repairs.
- Work on agricultural machinery when required, ensuring cross-functional capabilities.

Health, Safety, and Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and standards at all times.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs and maintenance for compliance purposes.
- Ensure all work complies with manufacturer guidelines and company policies.

Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with operators and other technical teams to identify issues and solutions.
- Provide training or guidance to junior mechanics as needed.
Job Specifications:
Qualifications:
- Diploma or craft certificate in Heavy Equipment Mechanics, Automotive Mechanics, or a related field.
- Certification in K-pneumatics systems is an added advantage.
- Valid driver’s license (Class C or equivalent).
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic.
- Proven experience in either a mining or agricultural settings is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing and repairing earthmoving equipment.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
