Assist the Supervisor in the Coordination of routine maintenance, trouble shooting and emergency repairs on the fuel, brake, electrical and transmission systems of Heavy Earth Moving equipment to ensure equipment availability to support Mine Operations.

Plan and schedule maintenance resources for all equipment used for mining operations

Supervise, coordinate and monitor the execution of scheduled work plans and unplanned emergency and breakdown work

Determining sequence and assignments based on work priority and availability of equipment and manpower

Ensure the highest maintenance standards are applied and maintained using able resources and at reasonable cost

Ensure team members work safely and follow all safety standards and safe work practices. Conduct initial surveys, risk assessments and environmental impact assessments

Undertaking technical and feasibility studies including OEMs recommendations on emerging trends on the market

Assessing the sustainability and environmental impact on the usage and component replacement on machinery

Compiling jobs specs and supervising scheduled and nonscheduled works for machinery such as Excavtors, Dozers, Loaders, Graders, Drills, Dump Trucks etc

Prepare technical reports for use by mining operations, engineering, and management personnel

Select or devise materials-handling methods and equipment to transport ore, waste materials, mineral products efficiently and economically

Participating in project review meetings for evaluating projects progress providing technical inputs to ensure project completion on schedule and prepare recovery plans in situations where projects are lagging

Establish and maintain a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment

Enforce standards and safe work procedures for the plant and ensure regulations relating to the mechanical maintenance department are met at all times
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

Fifteen 15 – 20 years of experience in repair and maintenance of Heavy Earth Moving Machinery

Familiarity with preventive maintenance software such as SAP
-
Strong Leadership and Communication skills
-
Strong knowledge of maintenance best practices and Industry Standards for OEMs
-
Minimum of Five (5) years in a Mining environment preferably open cast
