INTRODUCTION
Introduction to the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA)
The Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) is an international organization that works as a solutions broker to catalyze action and support for adaptation solutions, from the international to the local, in partnership with the public and private sector, to ensure we learn from each other and work together for a climate resilient future. Adapting to impacts of climate change provides a “win-win” for livelihoods, food security, water supply, health, security, and economic growth. The work of the GCA elevates the visibility and political importance of climate adaptation and facilitates solutions, such as smarter investments, new technologies and better planning to become more resilient to climate related threats. GCA is a rapidly growing organization with offices in Abidjan, Beijing, Dhaka, Groningen, and Rotterdam.

The GCA’s ambitious 2020-2025 business plan and strategy have three pillars:

  • Programs: Food Security; Using Nature for more resilient infrastructure; Water for Urban Growth and Resilience; Climate Finance; Youth Leadership.
  • Knowledge: Building adaptation knowledge globally through cutting edge products such as the State and Trends in Adaptation Report and the Adaptation Knowledge Portal.
  • Advocacy and Awareness: Formulating policy messages to move the global, regional, and local adaptation agendas forward.

Details and Objectives of the Assignment
In partnership with the African Development Bank and the African Union Commission, GCA is convening the 8 h Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program (AAAP) Partnership Forum. The event to be held in Zambia, will be a one-day event in hybrid format and held on the 13 th of August 2025.  The Forum will gather 150-200 participants.

GCA is looking for an individual consultant to support the mobilization of stakeholders ahead of the forum, through outreach to relevant government agencies, both nationally and in the Southern Africa sub-region.

Scope of the Services, Key Tasks and Activities to be Performed
GCA is looking for an individual consultant to deliver the following activity
Mobilizing high level stakeholders including relevant government agencies in Zambia and in other countries in the Southern Africa sub region as identified as relevant by GCA.

Key Tasks and Activities to be Performed

  • Mobilizing key government stakeholders at leadership level, to contribute to the discussions at the Forum based on the KPIs set for the event by the GCA team.
  • Recommend and mobilizing key regional actors and institutions to participate at the forum, whether attending the NAP Expo or not.
  • Identifying key stakeholder organizations and institutions to participate at the forum.
  • Identifying key development partners, donors and diplomatic community members that are key to participating at the forum.
  • Ensuring national media is onsite for publicity post the forum.
  • Supporting the confirmation of stakeholder meetings at the advance meeting to government agencies in the week of the 23rd of August 2025.
