Our Client operating in Kitwe and Kalumbila is looking for a High Voltage Electrician – Power Systems to join their team for a job vacancy within the mining industry.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Installation and Maintenance of Power Systems :
   • Install, test, and maintain high-voltage power distribution systems, including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and underground cables.
   • Ensure all installations comply with mining safety standards and electrical regulations.
2. Troubleshooting and Repairs :
   • Diagnose and repair electrical faults in high-voltage power systems and equipment, minimizing downtime in mining operations.
   • Use specialized tools and testing equipment to identify issues in the electrical infrastructure.
3. System Monitoring and Inspections :
   • Conduct regular inspections of high-voltage systems to ensure proper functioning and safety.
   • Monitor power distribution and control systems to detect early signs of electrical faults or inefficiencies.
4. Preventive Maintenance :
   • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on high-voltage electrical systems to ensure consistent operation.
   • Document and report maintenance activities, including system performance and any required repairs.
5. Safety Compliance :
   • Adhere to safety regulations and protocols to prevent electrical hazards, including proper grounding, insulation, and emergency shutdown procedures.
   • Ensure all electrical work complies with the mine’s health and safety guidelines and national electrical standards.
6. Collaboration with Engineering Teams :
   • Work closely with engineers and other technical staff to design, modify, and upgrade high-voltage power systems.
   • Assist in planning and executing electrical projects related to mining infrastructure.
7. Documentation and Reporting :
   • Maintain accurate records of electrical system performance, maintenance schedules, and repairs.
   • Prepare reports for management on the condition of high-voltage equipment and any potential issues.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Craft Certificate or Diploma in a related field.
• Proven experience as a High Voltage Electrician in the mining industry.
• Extensive knowledge of high-voltage power distribution systems and electrical regulations.
• Experience working with high-voltage power systems in an underground mining environment is essential.
• Familiarity with safety protocols and emergency procedures in high-voltage electrical work.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Must be a member of Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ).
