The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), a Statutory Body established by the Government of the Republic of Zambia under Section 3 of the Civil Aviation Authority Act No. 7 of 2012 to provide for the regulation and promotion of Civil Aviation in Zambia, is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons who are ambitious, innovative, energetic and performance driven to fill the vacancy of Inspector Airworthiness – Airframes and Engines.
The Civil Aviation Authority is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill two positions of Inspector Airworthiness – Airframes and Engines.
JOB PURPOSE
To undertake all Airworthiness and engineering matters associated with the maintenance of Airframe, Engines, Propellers and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS). Provide Safety Oversight of Air Operator Certificate (AOC) holders, Airlines and Aircraft Maintenance Organisations (AMOs). Carry out regular audits of all non-AOC holder’s Aircraft, Maintenance Organisations (AMOs) and RPAS in order to ensure compliance with laid down standards and regulations thus assuring safe air travel through Continued Aircraft maintenance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The job holders will be required to develop, maintain and implement ICAO Annexes 7, 8, and 19 Standards and Recommended Practices, in particular the following:
• Undertake timely preparation of work plans for the Airworthiness section in order to facilitate enforcement of regulatory programs and activities;
• Ensure timely compliance of airworthiness standards by stakeholders through Surveillance in order to ensure compliance with the Aviation Act, Subsidiary Legislation and ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices;
• Ensure timely provision of examination question papers for aircraft maintenance engineers for the purpose of issuance of licenses and endorsements;
• Ensure regular assessment of aircraft and performance in order to establish the airworthiness of aircraft in pursuance of continuing airworthiness;
• Undertake timely aircraft incidents investigation in order to facilitate appropriate interventions;
• Participate in the implementation of performance management systems in order to enhance individual and organizational performance;
• Undertake the utilization of resources in order to facilitate attainment of set objectives;
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
a) Minimum Primary/Secondary Education:
• Full-Form V /Grade 12 Certificate with a minimum of five (5) “O” Levels with credits in English, Mathematics and Physics/Physical Science.
b) Minimum Vocational/Professional Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering or Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering;
• Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s Licence in Airframes and Engines
• Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) with current ERB practicing licence.
c) Minimum Relevant Pre-Job Experience:
• 5 years in relevant field.
