Job Description

The National Health Research Authority (NHRA) is a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health mandated to provide a regulatory framework for the development, regulation, financing, coordination of health research to ensure the development of consistent health research standards and guidelines for ethically sound health research in Zambia. The functions of the Authority include: research coordination, research regulation, research promotion, research coordination, capacity building, knowledge translation and research advisory.

The Authority is currently seeking applications from suitably qualified Zambians for the position of INTERNAL AUDITOR to join its Internal Audit Unit.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Undertakes effectively audit assignments in order to ensure adherence to internal controls in the use of public resources

• Undertakes effectively the implementation of risk management procedures in order to mitigate risk in the use of public resources

• Undertakes effectively the monitoring of system controls in order to enhance adherence to financial regulations and procedures

• Undertakes effectively the conduct of audit reviews and appraisal of internal controls in order to assess their relevance and facilitate decision making

• Undertakes timely the preparation of Internal Audit Reports in order to facilitate decision making

• Undertakes timely the development of work plans and implementation of the Annual Performance Appraisal System in order to monitor and evaluate performance.

• Performs other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall objectives of the organization.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

• Must be a Zambian citizen

• Must have a Grade 12 certificate with university entrance passes

• Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, ACCA, CIMA or their equivalent.

• Professional Membership with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).

• In-depth understanding of internal audit principles and practices
