Job description:
Overall Job Purpose

The main purpose of an the
Inventory Coordinator
is to ensure that the site has the necessary stock on hand to minimize downtime and support smooth operational processes, while also optimizing stock levels to avoid overstocking or shortages.
Specific Job Responsibility
-
Maintaining accurate inventory records:
This involves tracking inventory levels, monitoring movements of goods, and reconciling stock counts with data in the inventory management system.

Optimizing inventory levels:
This role analyzes data to forecast demand, identify slow-moving items, and prevent stock outs or excess inventory. This helps minimize holding costs and maximize efficiency.

Overseeing inventory replenishment process:
Responsible for demand forecasting and execution of stock replenishment.

Collaborating with other departments:
This role will work closely with end-user departments to critically analyse and understand the demand. Furthermore, this role must work closely with purchasing, production, sales, and logistics to ensure smooth operations and efficient inventory flow.

Implementing inventory control measures:
They may be responsible for introducing new technologies or strategies to improve inventory management practices, such as barcode scanning, cycle counting, or just-in-time inventory systems. Also should train on new or updated technologies

Analyzing data and reporting:
They generate reports on key inventory metrics, such as inventory turnover, stock accuracy, and carrying costs, to identify areas for improvement and inform decision-making.

Master data management:
This role must ensure inventory master data integrity, accuracy and accessibility within the organization and as per general guidelines. Also stands as principal responsible on developing the catalogue process and its optimization throughout the ERP and or new technologies utilised for inventory optimization

Leadership abilities
Experience required to perform in this job

8+ years of progressive work experience in inventory control, warehouse operations and logistics management, preferably in a mining environment
-
Experience with ERP systems (SAP, ORACLE, MS Dynamics, JD Edwards or Pronto would be beneficial)
-
Understanding on heavy industry supply chain management process
-
5+ years’ in a supervisory role.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in BA, Finance, Statistics, IT , supply chain or Engineering degree or equivalent with combination of training and experience

Postgraduate qualification desirable – MBA or MSc
-
SQL and BI experience desirable
-
Skilled in the use Microsoft Office products, such as Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Membership of the Zambia Institute of Purchasing & Supply or equivalent
-
Proficient in project management.
