Job Objective:
The IP Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and optimizing IP network infrastructure to support business-critical telecommunications services. The engineer ensures secure, scalable, and high-availability network operations across backbone, enterprise, and customer-facing environments. This role plays a critical part in network transformation, upgrades, and continuous innovation in support of next-generation services such as 5G, SDN/NFV, and cloud networking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Design & Deployment
- Design and implement core and edge IP networks (IPv4/IPv6), ensuring scalability and redundancy.
- Develop HLD/LLD network architecture documentation and manage changes through version control.
- Support new service deployment including BNG, CGNAT, MPLS VPNs, SD-WAN, and IP-based access.
- Operations & Maintenance
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve network issues using diagnostic tools and protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS).
- Execute routine maintenance, patch management, and performance tuning.
- Perform capacity planning and proactive network scaling.
- Security & Compliance
- Ensure IP network compliance with internal and external security policies and standards.
- Implement firewall rules, ACLs, and intrusion prevention systems across IP infrastructure.
- Participate in network hardening and audit activities.
- Customer & Service Support
- Work with enterprise/business customers on solution design, integration, and SLA assurance.
- Support rollout of IP-based services (e.g., VoIP, IPTV, Internet peering, CDN).
- Project Management & Documentation
- Collaborate in cross-functional teams for IP network upgrades or rollout projects.
- Maintain detailed technical documentation including diagrams, change logs, and incident reports.
- Vendor & Equipment Management
- Configure and maintain network equipment from vendors such as Huawei, Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, etc.
- Evaluate and test new hardware/software for network evolution.
Job Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
Certifications (Preferred):
- Huawei HCIA/HCIP (Datacom), or Cisco CCNA/CCNP (Routing & Switching or Enterprise), CCIE, JNCIE, HCIE, or SDN/NFV related certifications
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in IP network design, deployment, and support
- Strong experience in ISP, carrier-grade, or enterprise network environments
- Proven experience managing MPLS , QoS , L2VPN/L3VPN , and BGP peering
Key Technical Skills:
- Deep understanding of IP networking (Layer 2–4 protocols)
- Strong troubleshooting skills using CLI and NMS platforms
- Expertise in routing protocols: OSPF, BGP, IS-IS
- Hands-on experience with MPLS technologies and services
- Familiarity with SDN, NFV, Segment Routing, and IPv6 deployments
- Strong command of Cisco IOS, Huawei VRP, JunOS, or similar platforms
