Reporting to the Supervisor IX Plant, you will be responsible for operating and overseeing the performance of the Polishing Plant (IX Plant) in terms of operating efficiency and recovery to Improve Safety.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

Conduct daily inspections of the IX plant and ensure that probes, actuators, filters, agitators and tanks are in working order.

Operate both manually and computer aided equipment through the SCADA to treat wastewater and ensure it meets statutory requirements.

Monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges and report any malfunctions.

Collect water quality samples in accordance with environmental regulation and perform field tests on water samples.

Prepare and produce daily reports for plant performance and operational conditions.

Maintain and calibrate instrumentation and control equipment including turbidity probe/meters, dosing pumps, pH meter and other water quality monitoring equipment.

Monitor inventory of chemicals and raise picking slips.

Ensure alignment with the Barrick Environmental Standards (Water Management and Conservation and Incident Reporting and Investigations

Build relations with mining and process maintenance, planning, reliability engineering, projects engineering, mine dewatering and shift operations personnel.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
-
Full Grade 12 School Certificate.

Diploma or Certificate in Chemical technology (Chemical Engineering), Water Engineering, Chemistry or related field.

A minimum 2 years of work experience in a water treatment facility preferable where softening units are managed, or application of ion exchange resin is used.

Knowledge on ion exchange (IX) technology will be added advantage.

Must be computer literate and experience in any SCADA software will be an added advantage.
