Job Description
The Junior Assistant Operations Officer is responsible for managing fleet for the company. He/she will take the lead in planning, organising and managing the work to ensure that everything is accomplished in a manner consistent with the organisational requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Planning routes and load scheduling for drivers

Responsible for selecting and maintaining trucks in order to keep deliveries and distributions on schedule and within their established budget

Ensure that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are maintained

Booking subcontractors and ensure that they deliver within agreed terms
-
Making sure that the trucks are in road-worthy condition
-
Anticipate emerging transport operations parameters to determine future resource requirements

Communicate importance of achieving cargo handling timeframe outcomes with efficient use of resources

Communicate key messages resulting from transport operation’s data analysis to key stakeholders

Engage senior management for buy-in to implement solution identified
-
Formulate vehicle fleet management strategy across different plans.

Identify strategic priorities of each specific transport link in development of plans

Manage overall transportation operations, including the transport of dangerous goods and chemicals
-
Motivate colleagues at organisational level to develop innovative solutions for driving change
-
Review areas in logistics operations where technology can enhance processes
-
Review cargo consolidation plans to identify savings in space, cost and efficiency
-
Manage the company’s field fleet security arrangements and coordinate any evacuations
REQUIRED SKILLS

Extensive knowledge of the transportation industry

Computer Literacy to effectively operate and manipulate online management systems
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
-
A Diploma or Degree in any relevant discipline or equivalent vocational experience in Transport / Logistics

At least 1 year experience in the field
