EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

In line with our aim to effectively contribute to sustainable economic growth through the promotion, development, training and regulation of the Zambian Construction Industry, we are seeking a dynamic and motivated staff to fill the following position:

LABORATORY ASSISTANT GRADE NCC 6

Reporting directly to the Materials and Research Specialist, the job holder will collect and undertake a variety of tests on construction materials in order to establish their suitability for use in various construction activities and sites in the construction industry.

Main Duties

Collect samples such as soil, asphalt, aggregate, concrete, masonry and steel from various construction sites in readiness for testing, labeling and storage in drying bays and store rooms
Prepare soil, asphalt, bitumen and concrete samples for testing
Carries out tests of construction materials in accordance with appropriate standards codified in the laboratory manual
Clean the testing equipment and laboratory immediately after the test in order to maintain clean surroundings and avoid contamination;
And any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

Grade 12 School Certificate
Certificate in Science Laboratory Technology or its equivalent
Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience

Required Competencies and Personal Attributes:

Knowledge of construction materials
Demonstrable materials testing skills
Knowledge and skill in the standards (ASTM, BS, ISO etc)
Knowledge of computer applications (Excel and Word processing)
