Key Responsibilities:
Major Responsibilities:
Contract Management
-
Draft, review, and advise on the preparation of all contracts, and other legal agreements.

Coordinate legal agreements, as requested, including ensuring approvals are obtained before signature.

Communicate and present information to stakeholders about all contract-related matters.

Monitor contracts and proceed with close-out, extension, or renewal according to what’s best for the organization.

Resolve any contract-related problems arising with other parties and internally within the organization.
-
Oversee compliance with contracts, MoUs, and other legal documents.

Maintain a record of all active agreements
-
Review and develop legal templates.
Internal Legal Support and Litigation
-
Provide legal advice, opinion, and support to the organization.
-
Act as point of contact for the WVZ external Lawyers. Work closely with external Lawyers, consultants, and partners throughout the development and initiation of cases, litigation, and implementation of judgments.

Identify risks related to litigation and propose solutions for risk management.

Ensure accurate documentation concerning any litigation.

Provide legal status updates report every quarter for submission to WVI and the WVZ Board.

Provide support and legal guidance on all Industrial Relations matters to Management
-
Responsible for providing interpretation and advice regarding response to all correspondence regarding potential breaches of contracts or regulations.
Compliance
-
Work with the Enterprise Risk function to implement a full compliance checklist against policies and laws. Ensure all policies comply with applicable laws and World Vision core documents, policies and procedures.

Monitoring changes in Legislation, Regulations, Initiatives, and relevant industry practices and developing implementation plans.

Responsible for all statutory filing

Maintain documentation of compliance activities, such as complaints received or investigation outcomes.

Provide employee training on compliance-related topics, policies, or procedures.

Ensure compliance with the Policy review guidelines
Support to the Governance Function

Support the Company Secretary with Board meetings, the production, distribution, and maintenance of all Board Materials, documents, and records.

Attend all Board-related meetings. Take, produce, and distribute meeting minutes and reports as appropriate. Gather information for inclusion in management or Board reports. Distribute Board information meeting packs before meetings

Schedule and prepare for all Board related meetings and activities

Manage the Friends of World Vision and ambassadors and be a point of contact.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
:

Degree in Law (LLB).
-
Advocate of the High Court of Zambia with three-year post admission to the bar experience
-
A master’s degree in legal-related discipline will be an added advantage
-
At least 3 years of hands-on experience in legal and corporate governance, preferably related to not-for-profit organizations.

Demonstrable experience in commercial law, employment laws, and Corporate Governance.

Leadership and competence in managing and implementing varied plans and programs
-
Ability to analyze reports and other forms of data, with sound judgment and planning skills
-
Extensive experience and understanding of the development sector
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-
Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.

Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office and related business and communication tools.

Fantastic organizational and time management skills.

Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
