Role Overview:
The Legal Researcher/Legal Assistant will provide comprehensive legal research, administrative support, and personal assistance to the Legal Counsel and managing partner. This role requires a dynamic individual with strong organizational, research, and communication skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced law firm environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Research and Analysis:

Conduct detailed legal research on various topics, including statutes, case laws, legal precedents, and regulations.

Summarize and analyze findings to support legal opinions, case preparation, and other legal work.

Monitor legislative developments and provide updates to the Legal Counsel.
Case Preparation and Documentation:

Assist in drafting legal documents, contracts, and reports under the supervision of the Legal Counsel.

Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and up to date.

Prepare presentations and summaries for legal consultations or court hearings.
Administrative Support:

Manage the Legal Counsel’s calendar, schedule meetings, and coordinate travel arrangements.

Handle correspondence, emails, and phone calls, ensuring timely communication and follow-up.

Maintain confidential records and files in compliance with firm policies and legal standards.
Client and Team Liaison:

Act as the first point of contact for the Legal Counsel, managing inquiries and directing them appropriately.

Coordinate with other departments and external stakeholders to ensure efficient workflow.
Compliance and Research Assistance:

Support the Legal Counsel in ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.

Research and stay updated on industry-specific legal requirements and best practices.
Qualifications and Skills:

Diploma in Law or nearly about to complete his Bachelors Degree in Laws (LLB).

At least 2 years of experience in a legal research or administrative role, preferably within a law firm.

Strong knowledge of Zambian laws, legal processes, and court procedures.

Excellent research and analytical skills, with proficiency in legal databases and resources.

Exceptional organizational and time management skills.

High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
-
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
