The University of Ndola is a Proposed University established to operate in the City of Ndola right in the Central Business District along Buteko Avenue Opposite Savoy Hotel. The Ndola University (Proposed) is a yet to be registered Higher Learning Institution with the Higher Education Authority (HEA) as a Private University College mandated to train students in various Diplomas and Degree programmes. As it rolls out its presence on the Copperbelt and beyond, The Ndola University (TUN) (Proposed) has embarked on recruitment of critical staff of high caliber to fill vacant positions. LIBRARIAN
JOB PURPOSE
The joh bolder will be responsible for developing and delivering a range of services to support the teaching learning and research activities of designated subjects within the University. Key aspects of the role are the development of information and digital literacy, and the monitoring of the resource’s budgets of the designated subject areas.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Developing and managing collections of books, journals (both paper and electronic) and websites create, update and manage electronic and printed information resources

Coordinating and delivering information and digital literacy sessions to students, researchers and staff which also involve managing user enquiries and one-on-one advice sessions.

Contribute to academic course development and liaise with academic departments

Assisting researchers with literature searches using databases. printed resources and the internet and taking responsibility in archives and other special collections

Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with academic staff and students, as well as external bodies such as suppliers.

Manage budgets in relation to your allocated subject areas departments and, in some cases, purchase
resources.

Responsible for the acquiring, organizing, managing and distribution of the library resources at the University and custing the University library meets the needs of the students.

Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
Qualification and Experience & Skills
The University seeks an individual with;
-
Grade twelve (12) Certificate with 50 levels which must include English language and Mathematics

A degree in Library Science

A master’s in library science or information management is an advantage
-
Ability to develop systems for the management of the E- resources
-
Atleast Four (4) years’ experience as a librarian
-
Experience using computers and working with electronic databases
-
Valid membership to a professional body
