LPDC Manager

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for development and maintaining of a self-sustaining township that supports the Lumwana Mine and provide leadership and coordination in the administrative, business planning, accounting and budgeting of LPDC.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
-
Develop a strategic plan for LPDC which clearly defines priority initiatives and actions for LPDC.
-
Manage cost effective and safe operation of LPDC through effective standards and policy development, rigorous budgeting and cost control, recruitment/ training and performance management of LPDC personnel.

Liaise with relevant government departments, legal advisors, and LMC Management on the development of effective local government and/ or interim governance

Support the development of adequate infrastructure and housing to support the growing needs of the business.

Oversea Community Development and Social Welfare Programmes which ensure all residents of the Lumwana town enjoy the best possible standard of living which supports LMC’s attraction and retention of staff

Maintain and update project financial models as required for banking, budget and strategic planning purposes, and to justify capital expenditure of changes in operating parameters
.

Ensure all commercial and administrative requirements (office services, personnel administration, housing and security) of the operation are conducted efficiently and cost effectively.

Provide advice and guidance to management on analysis of cost performance and operating efficiencies.
-
Be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the team.
-
Become actively involved in Barrick’s aims and objectives of engaging with the local community and strive to leave a positive impact on the longer -term outcomes for local people.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
-
Full Grade 12 Certificate
-
Degree in Engineering, Administration, Commerce, Business Development or related discipline
-
Significant experience (10 years) in a Senior or Managerial role in the mining, property development and civil engineering sectors or similar.
-
Sound understanding and experience of the principles and practice in accounting and contracts.
-
Able to clearly demonstrate the aptitude to drive a light vehicle and hold a current Zambian driver’s license.
-
Proficient in SAP and Microsoft office suite application
-
Be physically fit and be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination.
-
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and show a commitment to understand local culture and impart your mining operations and technical knowledge to the local Zambian mine operations personnel

Competent in incident/accident investigation
-
Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent.
-
Demonstrated ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness.
-
Experience in managing costs and budgeting
-
Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas.
