The Zambia Institute of Business Studies and Industrial Practice (ZIBSIP) was incepted in September 1993 under the aupices of the then Department of Technical Education and Vocational Training (DTEVT)
ZIBSIP is a public training institution under the Ministry of Technology and Science and Management Board. The college offers tertiary training in business, education and skills development training on full-time, part-time and open distance learning basis.
Legal Status
The institution was constituted as a public instituion under a Management Board in January, 2000 through the TEVET Act No. 13 of 1998
We are looking for a Maintenance Supervisor to be responsible for maintenance of the institution faclities.Additionally, will be responsible for hiring and training staff and ensuring smooth running of operations.
An excellent maintenance supervisor must be reliable and have an appropriate eye for detail. He/She must have technical skills and knowledge of various crafts such as carpentyry, plumbing etc.
Leadership and knowledge of adminstrative tasks such as scheduling are also essential.
The goal is to ensure that facilities are in good and safe condition at all times.
Reporting to Head Human Resource
Responsiblities
1.0 Inspect facilities periodically to determine problems and necesssay
maintenance
2.0 Prepare weekly maintenance schedules and allocate work
3.0 Recruit, supervise and train maintenance technicians
4.0 Hire and supervise tradesmen during installation, repairs or maintenance
(electricains, plumbing etc)
5.0 Inspect and maintain building systems (Heating, ventilation etc)
6.0 Contribute to the development of maintenance budget and ensure compliance
7.0 Monitor inventory of materials and equipment
8.0 Participate in coordination of projects (e.g. renovations)
9.0 Ensure adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations
Requirements , Skills and Qualifications
1.0 Full Grade 12 Certificate with at least 5 credits ( including science,
mathematics and English)
2.0 Must have a Diploma in electrical engineering or related field
3.0 Must have a valid driving license
4.0 Must be between 35 to 45 years
5.0 Minimum of 3 years proven experience as a Maintenance Supervisor or similar
6.0 Strong technical knowledge of all building systems (electrical, heating
etc)
7.0 Knowledge of health and safety practices and regulations
8.0 Understanding of budgetting and performance management
9.0 Excellent planning and leadership abilities
10.0 An eye for detail
11.0 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
12.0 Member of Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)
