Our Client, in the field of corporate assessments and training for human capital development, is looking for a General Manager to join their team in Lusaka, Zambia.

The Manager’s responsibilities will be to oversee all staff, budgets, and operations of the local business unit . This will include formulating overall strategy, managing people, and establishing policies. To be successful in this role, you should be a self starter and a thoughtful business leader. The role also requires a confident decision-maker who can help our people develop and grow to become an effective and efficient team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the organisation
• Responsible for tracking financial metrics – revenue generation and cost-effectiveness.
• Consolidate, systematise, and automate business processes.
• Be the face of the business to the customer. Follow up with them on how we are providing services to their satisfaction.
• Performance and team management
• Create and maintain a dashboard in the office and online of business KPIs
• Design strategy and set goals for growth
• Maintain budgets and optimize expenses
• Set policies and processes
• Ensure employees work productively and develop professionally
• Oversee recruitment and training of new employees
• Evaluate and improve operations and financial performance
• Prepare regular reports for upper management
• Provide solutions to issues (e.g. profit decline, employee conflicts, loss of business to competitors)

Desired Skills and Experience

• BSc/BA in Business or relevant field;
• Proven experience as a General Manager or similar executive role
• Startup/Entrepreneurial Mindset
• Critical thinking and making tough business and people decisions timely.
• Experience in planning and budgeting
• Knowledge of business processes and functions (finance, HR, operations, etc.)
• Data collection and analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Outstanding organizational and leadership skills
• Problem-solving aptitude
