Job Purpose:

The Material Coordinator is responsible for efficiently tracking, coordinating, and managing all materials required for project execution. This role oversees receipt, storage, issuance, and inventory monitoring to ensure the timely availability of materials, supporting site operations in line with project schedules, specifications, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Track and manage the receipt, handling, and distribution of all incoming materials, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
Coordinate with procurement, store personnel, and construction teams to facilitate accurate material planning and allocation.
Maintain and update material control logs, tracking registers, and delivery schedules.
Monitor material consumption, identify shortages, and report proactively to prevent construction delays.
Conduct material reconciliation between actual usage and issued stock.
Support inventory cycle counts and assist with stock audits.
Identify surplus, damaged, or non-conforming materials and coordinate returns or replacements.
Ensure proper storage and correct labelling of materials to maintain integrity and traceability.
Liaise with warehouse, logistics, QA/QC teams, and site supervisors to ensure smooth material flow.
Generate daily, weekly, and monthly material status reports for management and clients.
Maintain compliance with site safety and housekeeping standards in all material handling areas.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:

Education:

Grade 12 Certificate (essential)
Experience:

Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in material coordination or logistics on large construction or mining projects
Knowledge of Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) materials such as cables, panels, and instruments is highly preferred
Experience with inventory or materials management systems (manual or digital)

Skills & Competencies:

Strong understanding of inventory management and material flow processes
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic reporting tools
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
Knowledge of workplace safety standards in construction or industrial settings

Working Conditions:

Site-based role at a remote mining location (Lumwana)
May require extended hours or shift work based on project demands
Mandatory use of PPE and strict adherence to site HSE regulations
