MECHANICAL ENGINEER
The job holder is responsible for designing, planning, monitoring and coordinating repairs and maintenance of Zambia Airports Corporation Limited’s Mechanical Engineering Installations and machines obtaining at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport, and any other ZACL installations as may be assigned by the supervisor, to ensure smooth facilitation of Airports and Air Navigation Operations.

Project identification

Prepare project proposals and project briefs

Conduct preliminary feasibility studies to formulate terms of reference for tendering

Collect and measure accurate engineering data to prepare bills of quantities

Supervise and coordinate selected contractors’ work to ensure adherence to specifications, local operating procedures, and conditions, and certify completed works

Coordinate contracted works with stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of projects

Estimate and evaluate costs for maintenance works and servicing of equipment for management’s action

Design and innovate to optimise equipment maintenance processes for efficient utilisation of mechanical engineering installations and machinery as required by management

Prepare tender documentation for external execution and evaluate tenders to ensure the selection of the most compliant contractors

Participate in design review and due diligence processes during equipment procurement to ensure relevance and adherence to specifications

Supervise and guide subordinates on tasks to ensure adherence to specifications and good workmanship

Inspect, maintain, service, modify, rehabilitate, and manage all mechanical engineering installations and systems at the airport, including but not limited to HVAC, pumps, firefighting installations, aerobridges, baggage handling systems, airport special vehicles, and diesel gensets, to ensure effective airport operations and safety, and recommend appropriate actions

Develop and oversee the maintenance programme for all mechanical engineering installations Prepare a monthly report to management on the status of mechanical engineering installations
Qualifications

Grade 12 School Certificate with 5 0 Level passes and Credits in English, Mathematics and Science

Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering

Computer Literate in Engineering Software
Experience
-
Minimum of 3 years post qualifying experience preferably in the construction industry

Class B Drivers Licence
Professional Membership
-
Professional Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia.
