MERLA & Admin Support Officer – Mental Health
DESIGNATION
The position is a MERLA & Admin Support Officer. The MERLA & Admin Support Officer will be responsible for supporting the Mental Health Programme in the development, implementation and coordination of research and admin activities and procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
MERLA Support

Assist the MERLA Officer in the development of tools, collection of data, analysis, and production of reports for dissemination and possible publication.

Assist in monitoring the scientific integrity of data and protect the rights, safety, and well-being of participants enrolled in the project and report any observed irregularity or concern to the Project Lead.

Assist in transcribing audio recordings and translating documents from English to Nyanja and Bemba
-
Assist to develop and maintain project databases and ensure up-to-date storage and maintenance of data.
Admin Support
-
Coordinate and support with needed logistics (venue, materials etc) in implementing the pilot and Randomized Controlled Trial Exercise, community focus group discussions, surveys, key informant interviews etc.

Support the administrative strengthening of the monitoring and evaluation (data entry, filing, basic research).

Preparation of Draft Official Letters and tracking incoming and outgoing letters between the organisation and partners

Coordinate meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements for staff and management.

Prepare meeting agendas, take minutes, and distribute meeting materials.

Support with tracking and follow-up of financial retirements and budget requests.

Arrange logistical support for field support visits, training, and workshops

Supporting procurement and distribution of supplies between the organisation and partners

Any other hands-on tasks assigned.
Organisation
-
Demonstrate integrity by modelling the organisation’s values and ethical standards.

Promote the vision, mission, and strategic goals of the organisation.

As one of the organisation’s staff members, play a part in supporting the organisation’s and culture’s development, and work closely with the Project Lead.

Work on some of the cross-cutting elements of office life, (e.g. taking on a champion role).
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
-
Bachelor’s degree in M&E, social sciences, psychology, public health, and public administration.

At least three (3) years of working experience in MERLA and Administration in a government or NGO capacity

Good reputation in supporting teams.

Proven ICT skills especially in MIS software and proficiency in MS Office tools. Knowledge of visual software such as Canva is an added advantage.

Experience in basic administration, monitoring, evaluation and research.

Willingness to support across a wide range of activities related to finance, logistics, procurement, project implementation and monitoring.

Plans, coordinates and organizes workload while remaining aware of changing priorities and competing deadlines.

Establishes, builds, and maintains effective working relationships with staff to facilitate the wider team and project goals.

Ability to speak and communicate in Nyanja and Bemba

Good understanding of M&E and Administrative tasks and willingness to learn new things.

Good standard of written and spoken English.
