Job description:
Overall Job Purpose:
To be responsible for the effective and efficient operation in commencing metallurgical laboratory activities, supporting plant operations, and equipment monitoring. The responsibilities will encompass ensuring the accuracy of metallurgical data, maintaining equipment, and collaborating with plant operations team to achieve efficient and high-quality production processes.
Specific Job Responsibilities:

Collect samples from various stages of the processing plant, ensuring proper documentation and labelling.

Prepare and process samples for analysis, including crushing, grinding, and sample splitting.

Perform a variety of metallurgical tests, such as flotation tests, leaching tests, and mineralogical analysis.

Accurately record and organize test data, experimental results, and laboratory reports.

Support the efforts to monitor and maintain online slurry analysers and related equipment to ensure their accuracy and reliability.

Support the functions related to automated sampling systems.

Assist in the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment, including analytical instruments.

Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while conducting laboratory and plant-related activities. Report any safety hazards or incidents promptly.

Maintain detailed records of laboratory procedures, equipment maintenance, and sample tracking.

Continuously monitor the performance of laboratory and plant equipment. Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or deviations from normal operation.

Maintain high housekeeping and safety standards.

Compliance to HSE requirements and reporting/correcting defects and unsafe conditions to the supervisor.

Carry out all tasks and operate equipment according to procedures given in the operating strategies and instructions.

Conduct all routine tasks, including field check-sheets and equipment inspections in a timely and accurate manner.

Perform any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent Process Technical.

Experience required to perform in this job:
-
Previous experience in a metallurgical laboratory is preferred.
-
Familiarity with laboratory techniques, including sample preparation, mineralogical analysis, and flotation testing.
-
Basic knowledge of metallurgical equipment, such as crushers, mills, and analysers.
-
3 years of prior experience in operating a wet processing plant in particularly flotation circuit (nickel and/or talc flotation experience) is highly regarded.

Exposure to online analysers (MSA, OSA, PSI, etc.) is a plus.
Qualifications:
-
Full grade twelve (G12) certificate.
-
A degree in Metallurgical Technology, Chemistry, or a related field is a plus.
-
Certificate in metallurgy, chemical engineering, mineral processing or related field.
