Position: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
Report to: MEAL Manager
Location: Choma, Zambia
Length of Contract: 12 months

About the Country Program in Zambia
Action Against Hunger has been operational in Zambia since 2021 implementing both development and humanitarian programmes through a multi-sectoral strategy where Nutrition, Health, Food Security and Livelihoods, WASH and Protection, Gender and psychosocial support are integrated to have a meaningful impact on people’s resilience.
Purpose
Provide Monitoring and evaluation related functions for the Strengthening Livelihood and Resilience of Smallholder Farmers to climate change in Southern Province, Zambia-(SLARF) and other Action Against Huner Zambia Country office projects
Job Summary
Design the MEAL framework for project monitoring, evaluation, and learning.
· Conduct baseline, mid-term, and end-line assessments to track food security, nutrition, and climate resilience outcomes.
· Ensure data collection includes gender-sensitive and nutrition-sensitive indicators.
· Train field teams in participatory monitoring and impact assessment tools.
· Prepare donor reports and facilitate learning forums.
· Support the MEAL Manager in preparing timely and accurate reports on program activities.
· Contribute to the development of case studies and success stories.
· Collaborate with program teams to gather information for donor reports.
· Support the MEAL Manager in synthesizing data and findings into comprehensive reports.
· Assist in the design and development of monitoring tools to ensure effective data collection
· Assist in the collection, entry, and analysis of program data.
· Participate in field visits to ensure the quality of data and information gathered
· Conduct data quality assessments and provide feedback to field teams for improvem
· Support in the analysis of data to generate insights for program improvement.
· Engage in learning opportunities to enhance skills and understanding of MEAL practices.
· Participate in relevant training sessions and workshops.
· Contribute to the development of project proposals, ensuring alignment with donor requirements
· Assist in the preparation of logical frameworks and results frameworks for proposed projects.
· Organize and maintain a comprehensive filing system for MEAL documents.
· Support in archiving and documenting project achievements and lessons learned.
Requirements
Required Qualifications and Professional Experience
· Degree in M&E, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Health, or Statistics.
· Minimum 5 years in project evaluation with experience in nutrition and food security projects.
· Membership with Zambia Monitoring and Evaluation Association (ZaMEA)
Required Skills & Competencies
· Excellent experience in report writing, donor rules and regulations, validation procedures, process coordination.
· Excellent writing and analytical skills
· Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, under pressure and under tight deadlines
· Capacity building and facilitation skills
· Bi-lingual with excellent knowledge of English and any of the local language
· Able to build effective working relationships at all levels.
· Initiative and ability to work independently and propose solutions to diverse problems.
· Experience working in a team environment and building a team.
· Active listener with good interpersonal skills
· Demonstrated flexibility and or adaptability.
· Excellent organizational and planning skills
· Ability to work in a high-pressured environment and to multi-task
· Action Against Hunger working experience will be an added advantage
