EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
In line with our aim to effectively contribute to sustainable economic growth through the promotion, development, training and regulation of the Zambian Construction Industry, we are seeking a dynamic and motivated staff to fill the following positions:
MONITORING AND COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST – COPPERBELT/NORTHERN REGIONS – FOUR POSITIONS GRADE NCC 4.1
Reporting directly to the Regional Manager – Copperbelt/North, the job holders will monitor construction activities and ensure compliance to construction standards in line with the NCC Act and NCC (Code of conduct) Regulations in order to regulate the behavior and promote minimum standards and best practice of contractors
Main Duties

Perform technical inspections of construction work on construction projects assigned to him/her in order to determine compliance to national standards and contractual provisions and ensure value for money.

Recommend course of action in respect of erring contractors

Monitor construction projects to ensure compliance to construction standards

Assists in scrutinising the applications forms submitted by contractors for registration, renewal or upgrading to ensure that they meet all application requirements.

Using excellent customer service skills, establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors and other key stakeholders

Plan the Inspections calendar and budget and submits to supervisor for consolidation in the Directorate’s work plan and budget in order to plan and budget for the years activities

Participate in training programmes in the Region as required in order to impart knowledge and skills to technical staff in the construction sector

Prepare timely inspection reports in order to facilitate management decision making;

Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements

Grade 12 School Certificate
-
Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, Quantity Surveying
-
Member of EIZ and/or SIZ, ZIA, etc.

3 years minimum relevant work experience
Required Competencies and Personal Attributes:
-
Considerable skill in reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans and specifications and contract documents

Skill in applying material testing procedures
-
Ability to perform required mathematical computations
-
Ability to prepare, organize and maintain inspection field and office data, reports and systems
-
Basic computer skills (Word processing, spreadsheets and internet)
