STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A university qualification in Monitoring and Evaluation or the related functional area
Language: Fluency in both oral and written English and fluent in Zambian local languages

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

WFP Zambia has designed a five-year Country Strategic Plan (CSP) as the result of rigorous consultations with government donors, and other stakeholders, and reflects their appetite to support and partner with WFP in the country. It is informed by and strongly aligns with national and United Nations priorities and global commitments under the sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It embraces the Government’s long term Vision 2030; aligns with the 8th National Development Plan (NDP8); and contributes to the joint Zambia-UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF). The CSP is informed by WFP’s long-standing and broad experience in the country and embraces lessons from first generation CSP evaluation.

JOB PURPOSE

To perform monitoring activities within a specific coverage area and provide reports to support the effective delivery of assistance packages.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  1. Through training, develop sufficient comprehension of the programs, research protocol, ethical requirements, the study population, and the study tools.
  2. Work with project teams to mobilize communities for interviews and discussions.
  3. Collect data by using structured interviews with the sampled respondents
  4. Ensure data quality and sampling protocols by accurately and strictly following the guide/survey tools used for the specific data collection.
  5. Ensure to collect accurate and the quality data by reviewing and editing the collected data by checking of all intentional and unintentional errors daily.
  6. Maintain effective communication with key staff to provide an update on the progress and challenges in the field and seek guidance on the way forward.
  7. Participate in data quality check exercises soon after data collection and have a close look at missing and error reported data.
  8. Ensuring that the on-going daily reporting on data collection progress are kept up to date
  9. Hand in assignments as instructed by the team leader and any other notes on observations made during the interviews.
  10. Support in beneficiary registration and verification while working in liaison with programme teams.

  • Communication: confidently and professionally expresses self, able to ask questions and help the respondent understand what is needed from her/him.
  • Honesty: Show a high level of integrity and will not fabricate responses or misrepresent the program.
  • Relationship building: Should build trust with people in rural areas and ensure confidentiality.
  • Endurance: Must be able to work for full day working hours in the field across a number of days.
  • Team player: Have the ability to work with a diverse team

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

  • Prior experience in conducting field research work using participatory approaches in different locations in the country is essential.
  • He/she must be a Zambia national and willing to travel to various field locations
  • Prior experience in interviewing in-depth interviews
  • Excellent knowledge of English and other Zambia local languages such as Bemba, Nyanja/Chewa, Lozi, Tonga etc
  • Displays exemplary positive behaviours for consistency, predictability and reliability at work to complete assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Experience and knowledge on mobile data collection (Kobo Collect, ODK, etc)

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Duty Station: Multiple locations in Zambia

Type of contract: When Actually Employed (WAE)/Part-time

This position is open to Zambian Nationals only
