Job Description
1. Job Title: Farm Manager
Location: Chinsali, Zambia
Salary: To be advised
Contract: Fixed Term
Reporting to: Enterprise Development Manager

Principle Accountability
The Farm Manager will support the implementation of recommended focused business investments that are likely to lead to significant growth in young women’s incomes, new job creation, and enabling young women entrepreneurs to expand their philanthropy to support girls to go to school.
Specific Accountabilities

Analysing existing operations, crops, livestock, staff, and financial documents and recommending improvements.

Supporting with the implementation of the farm plans: Working in collaboration with young women Agriculture Guides, Agripreneurs and members of the CAMFED Association more generally: Creating short-term and long-term plans for the farm, including crop rotation, livestock management, and resource allocation.

Support the implementation of climate-smart innovations led by young women Agriculture Guides, noting young women will be leading for these.

Preparing plans and schedules for planting and harvesting and ensuring staff understanding of expectations.

Together with CAMFED Association members, establishing clear goals and objectives for the farm, including production targets, financial goals, and environmental sustainability.

Visiting the different divisions to inspect crops, livestock, and perform tests on soil and water.

Effective management of the livestock, animal husbandry, and various business units on the farm
-
Ensuring seeds, climate-smart fertilizers, pesticides, and other supplies are regularly restocked for the different business units.

Scheduling repairs, maintenance, and replacement of equipment and machinery.

Collaborating with CAMFED Association members for the marketing and sale of products produced on the farm, like fruit, vegetables, dairy, meat, and grain.

Effective planning of any demonstration visits in collaboration with CAMFED Association.

Ensuring all staff adheres to environmental, health and safety regulations.

Assisting with the recruitment and training of new staff and volunteer members (CAMFED Association and Agriculture Guides for any roles that might arise as we commercialize the farm).

Collaborating with senior CAMFED staff to prepare budgets and financial reports.

Building professional networks and keeping abreast of developments in Climate Smart agricultural science.

Ensure that the farm is productive and profitable.

Work with CAMFED and CAMFED Association members to establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders for the development and implementation of operational plans.

Utilise farming expertise to guide and inform research and commercial activities

Support the development of farm plans and oversee farm maintenance and security programs, farm budgets, policies, guidelines, regulations and such other records relating to effective farming operations.

Provide monthly and quarterly reports and analysis of operations and activities to management.
Person Specification

Project management skills: ability to workplan, implement and manage programs effectively, ensuring alignment with strategic plans and annual work schedules.

Excellent interpersonal skills for building relationships with local partners, NGOs, government agencies, and funding organizations.

Experience in identifying and supporting entrepreneurs, including knowledge of business growth interventions.

Experience of supporting entrepreneurial success in business and / or climate-smart agriculture

Familiarity with value chain analysis and development methodologies, including mapping and planning.

Confident financial management and ability to support business grant and loan processing, disbursement, repayment, and impact tracking.

Essential

A Diploma in agriculture, animal science, agriculture economics, or equivalent with lots of practical or farm management experience. A higher qualification will be an added advantage

2. Job Title: Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) Specialist
Location: Lusaka, Zambia

Contract: Permanent and Pensionable Contract
Reporting to: Head of Monitoring Evaluation, Research and Learning
Principle Accountability
The overall responsibility of the MERL Specialist is to identify and communicate insights and trends for programme improvement in both CAMFED and non- CAMFED districts. The ideal candidate will have a depth of experience in using data analysis and synthesis to perform corrective recommendations and as well as a track record of working on programmes in the education, youth and gender sectors.
The MERL Specialist will be responsible for high quality, timely data tools, analysis and data assurance, thereby ensuring that CAMFED’s evidence base contributes to high quality programs and learning.
The MERL Specialist will also work closely with MERL colleagues from other CAMFED National Offices and CAMFED International as part of a multi-country MERL team upholding shared standards, approaches and values, mutual support and expertise. The MERL Specialist will be committed to supporting young women to succeed and to maximise meaningful opportunities for young women in CAMFED’s MERL activities.
Specific Accountabilities

Data Quality Assurance: Assure and maintain an ongoing focus on opportunities to improve the data collection and analysis process to ensure it can capture the most relevant information about the system and contribute to program and system strengthening. This will be delivered in line; with CAMFED’s shared MERL standards and practices and Key Performance Indicators.

Leading on tool design and development, coordinating with Programmes and CAMFED International to ensure that monitoring tools are fit for purpose.

Data Analysis
Responsible for dataset supervision and data cleaning. Analysis of monitoring data and programme database data to report on Key Performance Indicators (e.g. completion rates, Learner Guide reach numbers) for organization KPIs and donor reporting. Coordinate to source from external sources such as Examination Council of Zambia (ECZ) and national EMIS data.

Person Specification

Experience in MEL work including developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation systems, analyzing data, and interpreting results.

Deep knowledge of different MEL methodologies and data systems including quantitative and qualitative research approaches and a strong knowledge of data management systems with an ability to use statistical software packages.

Ability to effectively translate research, methodologies, and data into accessible formats for colleagues and implementation partners with non-technical backgrounds.

Ability to communicate effectively in English and Lozi/Bemba/Nyanja is required – proficiency in other local languages is a plus.

Minimum qualification – A bachelor’s degree required in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Monitoring and Evaluation, international development. A master’s degree will be an added advantage.

At least five years progressive and demonstrable working experience in monitoring & evaluation.

Excellent knowledge of the education, development and gender sectors.
