Job Summary:
Mulungushi Innovations is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Occupational Health and Safety Officer to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. In this role, you will develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring that our operations adhere to legal standards and best practices. Your expertise will be crucial in promoting a culture of safety across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:

Policy Development:
Develop and maintain occupational health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local regulations. Regularly review and update policies to reflect changes in legislation and industry standards.

Risk Assessment:
Conduct thorough risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards in the workplace. Prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks.

Training and Education:
Design and deliver training programs for employees on health and safety practices, emergency procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Ensure all staff understand their responsibilities regarding workplace safety.

Incident Investigation:
Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses. Prepare incident reports and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Collaborate with management to implement corrective actions.

Compliance Monitoring:
Monitor compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and internal policies. Conduct regular inspections of facilities and work areas to ensure adherence to safety standards.

Emergency Response:
Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures. Coordinate emergency drills and training sessions to prepare staff for potential emergencies.

Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of health and safety incidents, training sessions, and inspections. Prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.

3+ years of experience in health and safety management, preferably in an industrial or corporate setting.

Strong knowledge of local health and safety regulations and best practices.

Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.

Certification in occupational health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is preferred.
