Job description:
Overall Job Purpose:

The Sourcing Officer will procure goods to meet requirements of allocated buying categories to support Sentinel and Enterprise mining/process operations in accordance with site policies and procedures.

The Sourcing Officer may be required to expedite the procured goods and engage with suppliers, logistics and other stakeholders to ensure goods arrive in required timeframe.

Sourcing Officer shall develop and maintain market and product knowledge for allocated buying categories.

The Sourcing Officer shall work as a member of the Commercial team and will be expected to build and maintain professional working relationships with internal (warehouse, accounts, logistics, other onsite customers) and external (suppliers, buying houses) to fulfil the responsibilities of the role.
Job Responsibilities:
The Sourcing Officer shall be responsible for the following tasks:

Develop and execute procurement plans (weekly reorder, project procurement, shutdown support) for goods to support Sentinel and Enterprise mining/process operations

Source catalogued and direct charge goods (special orders) from both local and international suppliers to support Sentinel and Enterprise mining/process operations for stock replenishment, capital works and major equipment rebuilds.

Procure goods at the competitive price, quality and specification from suppliers using the company’s ERP and the set procedures.

Construct, update and present reports to suppliers and internal customers.

Analyse spend and consumption of goods. Investigate drivers for changes relating to cost, demand and goods availability.

Capacity to understand basic technical information, quality and performance aspects of what is being purchased and the relative criticality.

Ensure all relevant documentation is filed correctly.

Timely resolution of queries from receiving and accounts relating to Purchase Orders.

Deliver on role KPI’s as determined by Procurement Supervisor relating to customer engagement, transactional performance, safety and initiative.

Ensure Suppliers comply with the set delivery lead-times.

Build and maintain the end-user’s confidence in the procurement function capability.

Prompt customer service and timely feedback to both internal and external stakeholders.

Perform any other duties as reasonably assigned by the Lead Buyer / Supervisor

Required Qualification and Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Contracts, Engineering, Business, Law, Finance, Accounting or related field.
-
3 years working experience and knowledge in the same or similar position (preferably in the mining industry or other related fast paced industries).

Level 5 CIPS Qualifications and above for non-supply chain professionals

Communication with local and international suppliers
-
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently

Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office i.e. Power BI, Excel, Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, MS Teams

Proficient in Pronto and other equivalent ERP systems i.e. SAP, JDE, SAGE
-
Understanding of warehousing and inventory management
-
A basic understanding of commercial law, tax, economics, logistics and remote mine site supply chain management
-
Maintain Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards by ensuring strict compliance with relevant regulations.

Active Member of Zambia institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS)
-
All academic certificates must be ZAQA certified.
