Siavonga
is looking for an
Operations Manager
to join their team for a job vacancy within the aquaculture industry.
Fuel Monitoring & Controls
-
Monitors daily fuel usage and queries excess usage by all users.

Ensures that all fuel consumers correctly declare fuel returns at the end of the shift and that this is effectively checked and verified daily
-
Ensure adequate controls are in place and adhered to in order to minimise loss of fuel from the operational areas.
Stakeholder Engagement

Community & Traditional Leadership
-
Participates in external stakeholder projects coordination activities including monitoring and reporting on progress, identifying problems and proposing possible solutions.

Works to maintain a good working relation with the traditional leadership.
-
Takes proactive actions and engages the community and traditional leadership to address anu issues arising that can affect the operations of the company, ensuring the company’s position is held firmly.

Regularly engages with the Chief monthly to provide updates on projects/ activities with potential to impact the community.
Political & Government leaders
-

Works closely with Environmental & Social team to ensure that all business permits and taxes are renewed and paid timely.

Maintains a good relationship with all pollical and government leaders in the area of operations.

Ensures

Ensures Yalelo receives due benefit in required services by the local government bodies to which levies etc. are paid.
Other Stakeholders and Service provider
s

Ensures relationships are set up and maintained with Zesco, the police and other operators or organisations providing the Production Division with services.

Handling audits, visits, licenses, and permits relating to the production site and function
Visits
-
Oversees and adequately organises and executes all site tours by external and internal parties.

Ensures appropriate depth of information is given according to the nature of the visit.

Ensures trade secrets are well protected.
Engineering
-
-
Oversees the engineering function, ensuring smooth running and a high level of delivery from the department including electrical, mechanical, civil, refrigeration, fabrication and planning.

Ensure all equipment is adequately maintained as per routine maintenance guidelines in the OEM specifications.
-
Ensures the quality of maintenance work done is of a high standard.
-
Ensures efficient and clear tracking and service history records are kept, well organised and maintained for all equipment.
-
Ensures fabrication works are adequately organised and executed to a high standard within the given timelines and budgets.
-
Ensuring tools and equipment is not abused, and adequate ownership controls are in place to prolong the lifespan of the equipment.

Ensure the stock of adequate tools are kept for the jobs required, and that these are taken care of and tracked.

Ensure competence levels of staff is assessed and monitored to ensure a high standard of delivery.
-
Engage and maintain close relations to outsourced maintenance and fabrication providers, checking the quality of work, and ensuring Yalelo is receiving the adequate service for what is paid for within the timelines required.

Ensuring we are outsourcing works to competent service providers to receive high quality works in good timeframes.

General Farm Operations Management
-
Manage dotted line reporting functions for staff based on the production site from Information Technology (IT), Data and Analytics (D&A), Health and Safety (H&S), Human Resources (HR), and Procurement which are centred in Lusaka.

Providing adequate support to the dotted line reports and staying up to date by monitoring their workstreams and deliverables.

Ensure SOP adherence across site, with SOP’s being updated every 6 months.

A proactive approach, working to support the Production Division under minimal supervision
-
Develop a strong filter, ensure tight control of overtime, production costs and unnecessary spend or requests
-
See through excuses and hold people responsible with strict but fair disciplinary measures
-
Maintain the best interests of the company in the decision-making process
-
Ensure the environmental stewardship notion is driven, and policies are adhered to.

Driving the support teams with teamwork and service culture being encouraged.
-
Collaborates with Production Director and financial team to prepare operation budgets.
Support and stand in for the Production Director where required, with short term additional oversight of departments.

Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Production Management, Operations or similar field (relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis).

Security or Military related studies are an added advantage
Experience
-
Minimum of 7 years experience in management, five of which should be in a senior management role.

Experience in Agriculture or Production site work practices and processes is an added advantage
-
Security related experience is an added advantage
