Our client is seeking an Operations Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the entire production process, ensuring that all operations run smoothly and efficiently. This role is crucial in maintaining our client’s commitment to quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness while meeting production targets. The Operations Manager will lead and develop a high-performing team, implement best practices, and drive continuous improvement in all areas of operations.
Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day operations of the plant, including production, quality control, and packaging.

Develop and implement operational strategies to optimize efficiency and productivity.

Lead daily processing operations, emphasizing best practices and efficiency.

Manage the supply chain process, including inventory management.

Design the floor plan for the extended production area.
-
Work closely with commercial planners to develop strategies that align with market demand and ensure stock availability at all times.

Manage production of value-added products according to customer preferences

Ensure optimal stocking levels by managing stock replenishment circles.
-
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including food safety, environmental, and occupational health and safety standards.

Lead, mentor, and develop the operations team, including production supervisors and quality assurance staff.

Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Actively engage with line managers to transfer technical expertise and operational know-how.

Design and implement comprehensive training programs for the production staff, in-store staff, regional managers and all senior managers where applicable.

Facilitate hands-on learning experiences to enhance skills in meat processing techniques.

Transfer effective production planning methodologies to enhance the operational capabilities.

Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching to enhance team performance.

Ensure the operations teams are well-versed in and compliant with industry regulations and safety protocols.

Train operations staff in effective inventory management techniques to optimize stock levels and minimize wastage.

Develop training materials and documentation to support ongoing skill transfer initiatives, ensuring sustainability and long-term impact.

Work hand in hand with the Health and Safety team to ensure that all products meet local and international standards of quality and safety.

Ensure suppliers comply with our client’s food safety policies.

Address any quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Develop and manage the operations budget, ensuring that all activities are cost-effective and within budgetary constraints.

Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.

Monitor and control waste and losses in the production process.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all areas of operations, including production processes, equipment maintenance, and supply chain management.

Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in meat processing technology to enhance operational efficiency.

Prepare regular reports on operational performance, including key metrics such as production output, quality, and cost efficiency.

Analyze data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for growth.

Present findings and recommendations to senior management.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Food Production, Operations Management or a related field.

Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in operations management within the meat processing or food manufacturing industry.

Proven track record in managing large-scale production operations, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and efficiency.

In-depth knowledge of meat processing standards, regulations, and best practices.
-
Must possess business acumen at operational and strategic level.
