Job description:

Overall Job Purpose

The purpose of the role is to safely and efficiently transport and deliver concrete to construction sites, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to mixing specifications.

Specific Job Responsibility

The specific tasks to be performed by the position holder will include;

Safely operate and drive a concrete mixer truck to designated job sites.
Ensure timely and accurate delivery of concrete to construction sites according to specified orders and schedules.
Load, mix, and discharge concrete as per project requirements and company standards.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, including checking mechanical components and cleanliness.
Maintain effective communication with dispatchers, Clients and construction site personnel to coordinate deliveries and address any issues.
Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and promptly.
Maintain the cleanliness and general upkeep of the concrete mixer truck, including regular washing and maintenance tasks.
Work collaboratively with team members, including other operators, to ensure efficient operations and support project deadlines.
Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Specific Competencies

· Driving Skills: Proficient operation of heavy vehicles, including maneuvering in various traffic and construction site conditions

· Concrete Knowledge: Understanding of concrete mixing processes

· Safety Awareness: Adherence to strict safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and ensure personal and site safety.

· Mechanical Aptitude: Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure the proper functioning of the concrete mixer truck.

· Time Management: Ability to manage delivery schedules and prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.

Communication: Clear and effective communication with dispatchers, coworkers, and clients to coordinate deliveries and address concerns.

Experience required to perform in this job

At least 2 years experience as a concrete truck operator.
Minimum 1 year experience in a project environment.
Knowledge on operating a concrete truck and its mechanical capabilities.

Qualifications

Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
Machine specific training and certification.
