Job title: Control Room Operator-Gas Cleaning Plant

Site: Kansanshi Mining Plc

Department: Smelter

Section:                                      Acid Plant

Position reports to :                    Shift Controller

Purpose

Monitor process and quality parameters to ensure smooth and trouble free operation of Acid Plant and guarantee plant longevity.

Key Responsibilities

This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulation pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, human resource, finance and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function:

• Monitor process and quality parameters within the set operational control and design.
• Report all process deviation to the shift controller and take necessary corrective action as required by shift controller or standard operating procedure.
• Ensure smooth and trouble free operation of the plant in shifts. Operate and follow best practices of doing jobs with concerns for Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Participate in proper start up and shut down activities for planned and unplanned shutdowns/startups.
• Identification of maintenance jobs and assists in maintenance coordination for planned and preventive maintenance.
• Data entry into the plant log-system for shift production reports and documentation. Consumables stock, transaction and consumption’s record keeping.
• Maintain plant records in proper manner as per company and QMS, EMS and OHSAS requirement.
• Good communication with Isa furnace, Utilities and converter sections for the optimized, controlled and efficient functioning of the plant Participating in plant in-house training.
• Completion of the plant calendar activity for the day/shift. Control Room Operator to report to the Shift Controller.

ESSENTIAL / Qualifications

Diploma/ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering: Chemical / Metallurgy or Equivalent

Experience

2-3 years’ experience in a Metallurgical / Sulphur burning acid plant Experience with SCADA or DCS
