Job description:
Overall Job Purpose
-
To obtain the best performance out of the cyclone and flash circuit by defending the circuit from adverse cyclone operation, ensuring consistent flash cell operation, preventing and acting on spillage, and acting as the ‘eyes and ears’ of the Control Room Operator.

To do this while keeping people safe, and ensuring that no discharges occur to environment.
Specific Job Responsibility
-
Area of accountability is all ‘upstairs’ activity at the milling area encompassing flash cell operation and concentrate delivery to point of discharge into the flotation circuit. All flash flotation cells and cyclone packs, commencing from cyclone feed pump discharge flanges to point of slurry return to mill feed chutes. Includes PSA system, delivery and discharge lines.

Follow KML safety procedures and guidelines

Undertake any ad hoc or non-routine requests assigned by your supervisor

Ensure the cyclone and flash area is shut down safely and quickly without spillage. Ensure the area is ready for subsequent re-start.

Complete operating checks according to instructions given by the supervisor and deliver to the supervisor prior to end of each shift.

Prevent the cyclones from roping

Maintain availability of cyclones

Operate the particle size analyser and multiplexer.

Operate the Flash Cells
-
Communicate issues that will affect the Rougher Flotation, Control Room or Grinding Field Operator

Escalate for advice and/or approval

Complete shift handover
-
Inspect the circuit regularly and report all spillage and leaks
-
Slow or stop operations if slurry goes outside the bund
-
Clean up if spillage occurs outside of hoppers or containment areas

Experience required to perform in this job
-
At least 1 year of experience in a processing plant, preferably in copper production.
Qualifications
-
Grade 12 Certificate.

Diploma in a Metallurgical or related field
