Purpose

Assist the Operator Tapping – Isaconvert in all tapping activities on the Isaconvert tapping floors.

Key Responsibilities

This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function

Open and close Isaconvert blister/slag tap hole at the direction of the Tapping Operator.
Closely participate in the preparation of Modified Polished Plugs (MPPs) and Dobbie Bars.
Maintain a good flow of blister and slag during tapping.
Perform housekeeping on tapping floors and the levels below.
Respond to alarms and process disturbances in a timely manner.
Operate safety systems such as Emergency Stop Systems in the event of an emergency.
Clearly and accurately communicate the status of the plant to others, ie. Senior tapper, foreman.
Take temperature measurements
Take and deliver samples
Understand and identify all relevant plant equipment and emergency systems and be able to explain these clearly to others

• Other duties as directed by the senior tapper Isasmelt.

Qualifications

Grade 12

Experience

Minimum of one year in any mining related operation.
Exposure to blister tapping i.e making of Polish Plugs or Modified Polish Plugs (MPPs) will be advantageous.
