Role Description
At MBHS, the Physiotherapy Technologist:
-
Support the implementation of the FQM evidence based preventative, rehabilitative and wellness programs for employees.
-
Provide physiotherapy care and wellness programs to employees when needed and or requested by OH physiotherapist, FQM Fitness, wellness & specialist & Coordinator Fitness & rehabilitation .
-
The Physiotherapy technologist will understand and demonstrate skills required to support the clients in all aspects of physical wellness and rehabilitation. He/she must maintain the confidentiality of the company and its staff at all times and adhere to the Mary Begg Health Services Code of Conduct.
Key Accountabilities

Effectively support the Fitness, gym & wellness specialist & Coordinator Fitness & rehabilitation in providing evidence based preventative and rehabilitative programs for employees.

Comply with all MBHS Standards for delivering high quality Fitness, wellness & rehabilitation programs.

Maintain patient documentation, records and accurate statistical information to reflect care provided and to meet professional standards and national guidelines.

Protect and maintain patient confidentiality at all times in keeping with the MBHS Patient Confidentiality Policy and MBHS Code of Conduct.
Key Responsibilities
-
Under the direction of the OH Physiotherapist Assist the FQM Fitness, gym & wellness Specialist &the Coordinator Fitness & rehabilitation in the implementation of Fitness, wellness & rehabilitation sessions to employees.

Demonstrate knowledge and training in the application of physical rehabilitative and wellness interventions including individual and group exercise instructing, functional rehabilitation and work conditioning and hardening.

Demonstrate knowledge and training in the safe use of rehabilitation and exercise equipment.
-
Demonstrate knowledge of basic life support including CPR and other first aid techniques since they work with medically high risk clients.

Collaborate with OH Physiotherapist, and Fitness, gym and wellness specialist in conducting high quality evidence based standard patient/client assessments.
-
Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control policies of MBHS by making sure that the therapy rooms are clean and tidy, used equipment has been properly sanitised and stored as well as exercising proper hand hygiene.

Carry out one to one and small group’s interventions under the direction of the OH Physiotherapist, and Fitness, gym and wellness Specialist.

Observe and regularly monitor patients’ progress using standardised outcome measures and report to OH Physiotherapist, and Fitness, Gym & wellness specialist.

Ensure all patient documentation is complete, legible and filed in the patient’s medical folder per MBHS procedure.

Assist the OH physiotherapist and Fitness, Gym and wellness Specialist in carrying out departmental stock control, ordering and receiving supplies, monitoring equipment and reporting faulty equipment as outlined by local departmental policies and procedures.

Conduct wellness and fitness (weight management) assessments under the direction of the Fitness, Gym & wellness Specialist.

Write and provide reports for clients in the fitness to work, rehabilitation and return to work programs at occupational rehabilitation area.

Carry out clerical duties as outlined by local departmental policies and procedures and when required/ instructed including filing, answering telephone, recording statistics, photocopying.

Under the supervision of the OH Physiotherapist and Work rehabilitation administrator manage and make client schedules and appointments.

Monitor client attendance and flag missed appointments with OH
-
Physiotherapist, work rehabilitation administrator & Fitness, gym & wellness specialist.
-
Undertake training and further learning to develop the personal skills required to improve the standard of patient care.
Customer Service
-
Foster a culture of customer service satisfaction amongst MBHS staff and patients/ clients.
-
Attend mandatory customer service training. Demonstrate good customer service by listening to patient’s concerns and providing proper support and care. Be polite and respectful in all patient or staff interactions.

Report to the Chief Medical Officer or HR Manager where you see any evidence of poor customer service from other MBHS staff towards patients or other staff (i.e. bullying, yelling etc.).

Must complete an Incident and Adverse Event Form to inform on any incidents/adverse events/ errors/other issues relating to the physiotherapy service. All incidents and adverse events are reported via the Medblaze in consultation with the OH Physiotherapist immediately for necessary investigation and/or action.
Administrative Functions and Reporting
-
Ensure that daily statistics and service usage are properly recorded and reported.

Report to the OH Physiotherapist, work rehabilitation administrator and

Fitness and wellness specialist and or OH officer or Work rehabilitation administrator & Fitness & rehabilitation Coordinator on any faulty equipment including the need to upgrade or replace.
Continued Professional Development (CPD)
-
Ensure that MBHS and facility orientation, in-house/ on-the-job training is completed, documented and managed on a regular basis.

Maintain individual clinical knowledge at an international standard through continuous education, training and learning.
-
Ensure that CME / CPD training is planned and conducted as mandated by national licensing bodies and company policy.

Must be a member and in good standing with the Zambia Society of Physiotherapy.

Assume responsibility for relevant and designated plan of action (POA) relating to physiotherapy services following an audit report to ensure that there is compliance with the MBHS standards and improvements in service.

Participate in physiotherapy service audits and implement recommendations from reports.
Educational Requirements
-
Must have a Diploma in Physiotherapy or country equivalent.
-
Any fitness training and certification will be an added advantage.
-
Must be registered with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) and have a valid licence to practise.
-
