Overall Job Purpose
-
Mine Surveyor is responsible for the safe and efficient provision of accurate and timely surveying field work and office duties as assigned to him by his superiors on the FQM Trident Mining and Exploration leases.

Specific Job Responsibility
The specific tasks to be performed by the position holder will include;

Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while conducting surveys in potentially hazardous mining environments.

Contribute to the development and implementation of safety procedures related to surveying activities.

Collaborate with mining engineers and geologists to contribute to the design and optimization of open-pit mining plans.

Perform accurate volume calculations of the pit to track material movements and estimate remaining reserves.

Provide Survey data for short-term and long-term production planning.
-
Monitor and document blast patterns, ensuring they align with design specifications.

Conduct pre- and post-blast surveys to assess the impact of blasting on the pit structure.

Daily survey pickups for presentation of a daily ore-faces plan for use by Operations and Technical personnel in a timely manner.

Work with advanced technology such as GPS and machine guidance systems to provide real-time data for mining equipment operation.

Set out of all Mine Design and Geological requirements, this includes preparation of set out plans for all designated personnel to utilise.

Carry out Stockpile surveys on a regular basis to enable accurate stockpile volumes to be calculated at the end of each month for reconciliation and Ore stocks calculations.

Monitoring of Wall instability in Pits dumps or Dams with accurate reporting on required basis to provide information for analysis for failure prediction.

Daily interaction with Chief Mine Surveyor and Senior Surveyor on and as required basis.

Maintenance of surveying equipment to required standards

Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies in open-pit mine surveying.

Assist in the training and development of junior surveying staff.
-
Any other tasks as may be delegated upon by the supervisor.
Job Specific Competencies
-
Advanced knowledge in large multi open pit operations.
-
Expertise in using surveying instruments and techniques, including Total Stations, GPS, Laser Scanners and UAV (drones)

Proeficiency in using mapping and surveying software for data analysis, mapping and creation of accurate 3D models, such as Surpac, Maptek PointStudio, Pix4Dmapper or GIS software.

Ability to interpret and implement mine plans and effectively achieve targets and goals.

Demonstrate good communication skills with the other Mining sections (Operations, Technical, Mine Geology and Mining Maintenance) personnel

Effective planning and organisation of surveying activities to meet project timelines.

Ability to prioritize tasks based on project urgency and importance.

Experience required to perform in this job

A minimum of 5 years post qualification industrial experience in the Mining and Surveying industry is a must.

Be physically fit and be able to pass pre-employment and medical examinations.

Must have good written and oral communication skills in English language.

Ability to train subordinate personnel.
Qualifications
-
A Degree in Geomatics/Surveying qualification from a recognized Institution.
-
Holder of a current Zambian Driver’s license. Full manual driving license is a must.
-
EIZ and ERB registration.
