Job description:
Purpose
Diligently execute maintenance planning functions according to established procedures, OEM recommendations, and company policies, ensuring optimal equipment availability, reliability, and operational efficiency within assigned sections.
Key responsibilities

Planning & Scheduling:
-
Compile and upload schedules for new and existing equipment into the ERP system (e.g., SAP, Pronto), adhering to OEM recommendations, RCM principles, and company maintenance standards.
-
Plan and schedule daily, weekly, monthly, and shutdown maintenance activities for assigned sections, minimizing production disruptions and maximizing operational run time, while complying with all relevant safety regulations and environmental protocols.

Collaborate with operations and maintenance personnel to optimize maintenance solutions for cost-effectiveness and efficiency, considering company budget constraints and resource limitations.

Inventory & Procurement:
-
Monitor work orders and collaborate with the expediting officer to ensure timely availability of parts and resources, adhering to company procurement procedures and vendor agreements.

Work with the Procurement department to manage bill of materials and project budgets within established limits, maintaining accurate records and documentation as required by company policy.

Raise ANSIs for non-stock items and ensure timely availability of spares for scheduled maintenance, following internal approval processes and authorization workflows.

Data Management & Analysis:
-
Maintain accuracy of the ERP Maintenance module database, including task lists, equipment history, spares lists, and Applied Parts Lists (APLs), consistent with company data governance practices.

Conduct RCFA analysis on equipment failures, chair analysis meetings, and implement corrective actions, aligning with established company incident response protocols.

Develop and maintain a comprehensive database to monitor and improve maintenance department efficiency, identifying cost-saving opportunities and optimizing preventative maintenance schedules, reporting findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders as per company communication protocols.

Prepare and present weekly and monthly performance reports, analyzing data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement, utilizing company-approved reporting formats and presentation guidelines.

Communication & Collaboration:

Conduct planning meetings with stakeholders in assigned sections, facilitating open communication and knowledge sharing in accordance with company collaboration practices.

Raise and close work orders in the ERP system, track rotable spares, and raise repair work orders as needed, following established company work order management procedures.

Maintain strong working relationships with internal and external departmental employees, upholding company values and fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Monitor maintenance activity progress, adjust completion schedules and manpower requirements as needed, communicating updates and modifications through designated channels as per company project management methodologies.

Create and maintain monitor points for critical equipment in conjunction with the SCADA system, ensuring adherence to company data security and access control protocols.

Technical Expertise :
-
Carry out maintenance analysis on critical equipment and advise the maintenance crew, applying sound engineering principles and company-specific maintenance best practices.

Conduct planned maintenance reviews and update MTBF reports to determine component changeouts, following company equipment lifecycle management guidelines.

Determine scheduled shutdowns and resource requirements for planned maintenance tasks, considering company production schedules and operational priorities.

Thorough understanding of rotables and their management
Qualifications
-
Grade 12 Certificate
-
Minimum of a Diploma in any Engineering Field

Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Experience
-
Minimum experience 2 – 3 years

Proven experience in a large-scale copper mining operation (advantageous)

Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP)

Experience with PRONTO maintenance software (advantageous)
