Job description:
Overall Job Purpose:
The PCR Planner Engineer is responsible for strategically overseeing the dewatering management of pumping assets. This involves developing and executing planned maintenance schedules, ensuring optimized component lifecycles, maintaining regulatory and safety compliance, and supporting continuous improvement efforts. The role bridges engineering expertise, planning acumen, and hands-on project management to sustain and enhance the reliability of pumping systems.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
Planning & Scheduling (via Pronto)

Develop, maintain, and execute PCR schedules for pumps and dewatering equipment.

Generate and review forecasts in Pronto (calendar-based and engine-hour-based), ensuring machine hours are captured daily for accurate scheduling.

Plan and schedule work orders within defined timeframes, adhering to the Work Management
Process, ordering/expediting materials promptly, and minimizing backlog.
Asset Management & Optimization

Oversee critical spare inventories and plan stock levels to reduce downtime and control costs.

Monitor equipment performance data, conduct root-cause analyses and implement findings to strengthen PM tasks, spare parts management, and overall reliability.

Continuously refine PCR strategies based on operational feedback and analytical insights.

Provide training and guidance on Pronto best practices, fostering consistent usage and driving a culture of safety, excellence, and continuous improvement.
Preventive Maintenance (PM) Task Maintenance

Create, refine, and maintain comprehensive PM tasks in Pronto, detailing scope, resources, and execution guidelines.

Update PM strategies using performance data, vendor recommendations, and root-cause findings, ensuring best practices are consistently applied.
Technical Support & Engineering Analysis

Assess mechanical and electrical components, recommending replacement, refurbishment, or upgrades as needed.

Participate in design reviews and risk assessments for new installations or modifications, ensuring reliability and maintainability goals are met.
Parts Management & Procurement

Obtain detailed part specifications, quotes, and approvals (e.g., ANSI), coordinating closely with warehouse teams for timely delivery and staging of parts.

Track and manage unused parts, returning or reallocating them as appropriate and updating Pronto records to maintain accurate equipment histories.
Project Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement

Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to secure parts, services, and manpower, leading regular planning meetings and progress updates.

Prepare reports, cost estimates, and justifications for capital projects linked to asset replacement and dewatering management.

Collaborate with engineering, operations, and supply chain teams to optimize maintenance strategies and reduce downtime.
Compliance & Documentation

Maintain thorough records of all maintenance activities, including PCR tasks, PM details, and major repairs in Pronto.

Regularly review technical documentation and vendor manuals, archiving relevant data for future reference and continuous improvement.

Required Experience and Qualification:

4+ years of relevant experience in maintenance planning, reliability engineering, or asset management within the dewatering, pumping, or heavy industrial sector.

Familiarity with root-cause analysis, FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), and Pronto software is highly desirable.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

A postgraduate qualification in Project Management, Reliability Engineering, or Asset Management is a plus.

Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications e.g. Pronto, Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, PowerPoint etc.

A valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage.
