Reporting to the Coordinator – Electrical, The Plant Electrical Crew Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the efficiency, safety, and effectiveness of High Voltage Electrical Systems within our mining operations. The position is based in Lumwana, Zambia, and offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of our industrial operations.

Your duties & Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversee the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of High Voltage Electrical and power reticulation networks.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the High Voltage network and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Supervise a team of linesmen and other personnel, providing training and support as needed.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies for electrical equipment to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Liaise with other departments to coordinate activities and ensure alignment with overall plant objectives.
  • Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.
  • Ensure all electrical activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and manage the budget for electrical operations and maintenance.
  • Document and maintain records of electrical processes, incidents, and maintenance.
  • Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support for electrical and distribution issues.

To be considered for the position, the applicant must have the following:

  • Grade Twelve Certificate
  • Bachelor’s degree, diploma or trade certificate in Electrical/power Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in electrical field within the mining industry, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of the installation, testing, and maintenance of induction and slipring motors, power cables, transformers, protection relays, switchgear, and overhead power lines.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and train staff effectively.
  • Familiarity with industry standard software and diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Must have class B and C national driver’s license is a must have.
