Poultry Attendant Responsibilities

1. Ensure birds have access to food and water

2. Walk through the poultry house to Identify sick or injured birds and report on the condition of chickens

3. Utilize proper biosecurity standards when entering and exiting houses

4. Control temperature of houses for ultimate bird comfort

5. Conduct maintenance on the house and watering/heating system as needed

6. Control house lighting to meet bird needs and maintain high standards of animal welfare

7.  Doing a postmortem on every bird suspected to have died from a disease to establish the course of death

8. Disinfecting of poultry houses and the surrounding to prevent disease.

9. Evaluating the condition of animals to ensure that they are healthy and comfortable

10. Observing the behavior of chickens to detect changes in activity level or feather condition

11. Cleaning and maintaining poultry farm equipment and facilities

12. Keeping records of feed consumption and health conditions of poultry

13.  Inspecting chickens for signs of disease or infestation by parasites

14. Prepares poultry houses for placement of chicks

15. Using machinery and equipment safely

16. ​​​Completing and keeping accurate records

17. Administer appropriate vaccinations and medicines to birds

18. Any other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager
