The Kafue Gorge Regional Training Centre (KGRTC), situated about 100 km south of Lusaka, off Chirundu Road, is a regional training facility offering in-service training in Energy and related technical, and non-technical courses for Africa and beyond. The Centre, in addition, offers quality conference, accommodation and catering services.

Overall Purpose of the Job

Responsible for designing, developing, installing and maintaining software programs or systems that align with user needs

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head – Training and Research the Principle Officer – Information Technology will have the following responsibilities:

• Execute the full software development life cycle (SDLC)
• Develop flowcharts, layouts and documentation to identify requirements and solutions
• Write well-designed, testable code
• Produce specifications and determine operational feasibility
• Integrate software components into a fully functional software system
• Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures
• Document and maintain software functionality
• Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems
• Deploy programs and evaluate user feedback
• Comply with project plans and industry standard
• Ensure software is updated with latest features

Carry out all software maintenance at the Training Center

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate must meet the following requirements;

• Full Grade 12 Certificate
• BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent
• At least three (3) years work experience in software design and development
• Must be a member of ICTAZ.

Specific Skill Requirements

The candidate must possess the following specific skills

• Experience, or at least a working familiarity, with JavaScript, Linux/Unix, Perl, Shell, Java, Ruby, PHP, Python, Hands-On SQL, Microsoft ASP.NET MVC, Web API, Node.js.
• Experience working with source code and version repository.
• Familiarity with UI Toolkits and frameworks.
• Knowledge of Java, C, C++, and C#.
• Ability to transform requirements into design concepts and entity relationship diagrams (ERDs).
• Ability to analyze complex technical information.
• Ability to write precise, detailed technical specs and documentation.
• Understanding of software engineering best practices.
• Written and verbal communication.
• Able to Collaborate with other team members
• Excellent in Problem-solving skills.
• Must possess good Organization and time management skills.
• Project management skills.
