We Effect Zambia Country office is seeking a dynamic and seasoned Programme Coordinator with a strong profile in the field of ‘Environment, Climate Change and Resilience’.

In Southern Africa We Effect development programs are implemented by our four country offices in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Mozambique.
The strategic focus of We Effect centres on the right to food. We support cooperatives and other member-based civil society organisations, especially small-holder farmers organisations, to contribute to food security, resilience to climate change and the sustainable livelihoods for their members and the communities. Most of our development projects are within the sector of agriculture/rural development and our core areas of work as well as expertise includes – sustainable agricultural practices, inclusive value chains, financial services, land rights and women economic empowerment.
About the position
As the Programme and ECCR Coordinator you will work in close collaboration with the Country Manager in overseeing and coordinating program implementation, ensuring the functionality of all program areas and the alignment of the operation with We Effect’s strategies.
The position has an additional responsibility to coordinate and support We Effect’s work and initiatives related to ‘Environment, Climate Change and Resilience’ (ECCR) in Zambia. We Effect’s Core focus in ECCR is climate adaptation and environmentally sustainable practices in the agricultural sector.
The role involves adept program budget management while ensuring compliance with We Effect agreements, policies, and the achievement of set results to ensure cost efficiency.
In close partnership with the Country Manager, the Programme Manager will stay informed about national and global developments, maintain relationships with stakeholders, and actively participate in relevant networks and forums, including facilitating resource mobilization activities.
Key Responsibilities
Program Coordination
Develop and execute comprehensive programming strategies, including ECCR initiatives.
Coordinate and manage diverse programs, overseeing project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and partner organizations for seamless integration with other programs.
Lead planning, implementation, and monitoring of program activities aligned with We Effect Zambia’s strategic goals.
Ensure projects are executed on time, within budget, and comply with donor requirements.
Develop work plans, budgets, and progress reports.
Stakeholder Engagement
Build strong relationships with local communities, partner organizations, and relevant government agencies for impactful programming deliverables.
Advise and support community needs assessments to ensure activities meet specific needs.
Develop and monitor exit strategies to partners and programs.
Technical support and coordination ECCR
Collaborate with stakeholders and partners to promote sustainable natural resource management practices.
Support initiatives for biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration.
Implement strategies for reducing environmental impact and promoting eco-friendly practices.
Identify climate change vulnerabilities and develop adaptation strategies.
Support partners in implementing climate-resilient agriculture and livelihood practices.
Support capacity building, knowledge sharing and learning in-house and among program partners.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
Develop and implement a robust monitoring and evaluation framework for ECCR projects.
Collect and analyze data to measure project impact and ensure accountability.
Continuously assess and adapt project strategies based on evaluation findings.
Communication, Advocacy and Networking:
Represent We Effect Zambia in relevant networks, forums, and alliances.
Advocate for policy changes and initiatives promoting environmental sustainability and climate resilience.
Support partners in developing evidence for advocacy strategies.
Collaborate with Regional Communication and Advocacy Officer and Marketing department for high-quality material and regular updates on all communication channels.
·Support partners in documenting and sharing significant stories on ECCR themes.
Resource Mobilization:
Participate in all processes of resource mobilization by providing technical support in developing technical proposals.
Support the Country Office in mapping potential funding agencies through monitoring invitations to calls for proposals.
General Responsibilities:
Adhere to We Effect’s principles, values, administrative requirements, and internal control systems.
Contribute to the further development of We Effect’s work in Zambia.
Keep the Country Manager informed of national developments within We Effect’s strategic program areas.
Participate in relevant civil society and other networks to share We Effect analysis and intervention.
Take initiatives to improve the quality of work, promote active dialogue, synergies, and learning within Zambia.
Contribute actively to the achievement of We Effect development objectives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in development studies, environmental science, Natural Resource Management, Climate Change, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
Minimum of 8 years proven experience in program management, particularly in environment, climate change, or community resilience.
Strong understanding of environmental issues, climate change adaptation, and sustainable development.
Very good understanding of working with civil society development through a human right based approach
·Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in relevant computer software and data analysis tools.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Strong organizational and leadership skills.
