PATH is leading a consortium of partners in the implementation of the recently awarded USAID PAMOPlus Project. This is a 5-year Cooperative Agreement. In partnership with Jhpiego and the Zambia Centre for Communication Programs (ZCCP)— guided by the
National Malaria Elimination Strategic Plan
and in collaboration with the End Malaria Council (EMC)—the PAMOPlus Project will build on the PATH learning and momentum achieved as lead for PMI’s Program for Advancement of Malaria Outcomes (PAMO). In line with PMI’s strategy, the PAMOPlus Project will assist the GRZ to accelerate progress towards its goal of eliminating local malaria infection and disease in Zambia by achieving high levels of effective coverage with high-quality malaria control interventions, leading to major reductions in malaria prevalence, incidence, severe disease, and death in four focal high-burden provinces: Luapula, Northern, Muchinga, and Eastern.
PATH seeks a
Temporary Program Officer
to support the introduction of Malaria vaccine in Zambia by helping submission of vaccine requirement to GAVI by 23rd September 2024. He/she will be responsible for coordinating the planning, implementation, and monitoring the vaccine introduction process.
General outline of the responsibilities

Oversees the entire vaccine introduction process.

Ensures timely and successful implementation.

Coordinates with various stakeholders: government agencies, healthcare providers, and community leaders
Responsibilities
:

Develop and implement a comprehensive vaccine introduction plan and strategies, aligning with national and international guidelines.

Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, healthcare providers, and community leaders to ensure a coordinated approach.

Monitor and evaluate vaccine introduction progress, identifying areas for improvement and prepare report to help the team stay on track.

Develop and manage budgets, timelines, and resource allocation plans for the vaccine introduction process.

Propose training and capacity-building programs for healthcare workers to be used immediately after the vaccine introduction has been done.

Ensure compliance with national and international regulations, standards, and best practices.

Provide technical assistance and support to EPI and NMEC teams.
Required Skills and Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree in public health. A master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, or a related field will be an added advantage

At least 3-5 years of experience in implementing immunization programs, or public health management.

Strong understanding of vaccine introduction principles, immunization policies, and national and international guidelines especially in low- and middle-income countries.

Excellent project management, coordination, and communication skills.

Ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, healthcare providers, and community leaders.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with data management systems.

Knowledge of WHO and UNICEF guidelines and recommendations.

Familiarity with Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI), and other global immunization initiatives.
