About Us
Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection (JCTR) is a faith based organisation and a ministry of
the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) operating in Zambia since 1988 to promote social justice. JCTR
primarily focuses on the poor category of the Zambian population by advocating for pro-poor
policies aimed at promoting economic development and poverty alleviation. JCTR works to
promote “A just Zambian society guided by faith where everyone enjoys the fullness of life,
especially the poor”. Our mission is “To promote justice and equality for all, especially the
poor and marginalised, through Christian values, education, care for the environment and
influencing policy formulation.”.
Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Programme Officer to coordinate activity
implementation among communities in selected districts of Zambia for a project whose main
objective is to enhance the capacities of communities and local civil society actors to contribute
to strengthened governance and sustainable development. Specifically, the project seeks to
enhance the capacities of women, youth and marginalised group CSOs and CSO networks to
effectively engage in policy dialogue, public sector governance and local development
processes, and the role of the programme officer will include liaising with stakeholders, and
ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management: Plan, implement, and monitor project activities to ensure they
align with the project objectives and timelines.
Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and maintain relationships with local
communities, government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
Capacity Building: Organize and conduct training sessions and workshops to build the
capacity of project beneficiaries and stakeholders.
Reporting: Prepare and submit regular progress reports, ensuring compliance with
donor requirements and internal policies.
Budget Management: Oversee the project budget, ensuring funds are used effectively
and efficiently.
Research and Analysis: in collaboration with other JCTR units initiate research works
to inform project activities and support evidence-based advocacy and decision-making.
Advocacy and communication: In collaboration the JCTR communication
department, promote project visibility through communication and advocacy activities,
including social media, newsletters, and public events.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Master’s degree in Development Studies, economics or related social
sciences.
Experience
:
o At least 3-5 years of experience in project management, preferably working
rural and peri-urban communities,
o experience working with international donors and understanding their reporting
requirements, knowledge of local context.
Skills:
o Strong organisational and project management skills.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
o Experience working with local communities
o Experience in the use of participatory methodologies in project implementation,
data collection and analysis
o Experience with budget management and financial reporting.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
