Job Description

The Government of the Republic of Zambia, through the Ministry of Education (MOE) is implementing various education programmes aimed at improving equitable access to quality education. With support from the World Bank, the Ministry of Education is implementing two overarching projects namely: The Zambia Enhancing Early Learning (ZEEL) Project and the Zambia Education Enhancement Project (ZEEP). Since 2017, the World Bank has been supporting the Ministry in implementing the ZEEP and in order to deepen the human capital impact of ZEEP, the project coverage was expanded by including complementary activities and added coverage to enhance education outcomes especially for girls. ZEEL represents the first large scale investment in Early Childhood Education (ECE) in Zambia and supports critical early years human capital development investments. ZEEL project has nationwide impact with implementation of activities concentrated in selected Districts across all ten (10) Provinces and interventions supporting broader ECE system enhancements with more than 110,500 children aged 3-6 years belonging to disadvantaged communities expected to benefit from the project.

To ensure that the projects are implemented effectively to realize their intended objectives, MoE is recruiting additional staff to work under the two projects. MoE hereby invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the following positions:

1. JOB PURPOSE

The Project Office Assistant will clean offices, surroundings, utensils and delivery of mail in order to create a conducive working environment and facilitate smooth operation.

2. MAIN DUTIES OR ACCOUNTABILITIES

Key Result Area & Principal Accountabilities

Offices

Cleans regularly offices in order to maintain a conducive work environment

Utensils

Cleans timely and regularly eating and drinking utensils in order to maintain good hygiene

Surrounding Environment

Undertakes effectively the cleaning of the surrounding office environment in order to ensure a hygienic environment.

Any Other Duties

Undertake any other tasks as assigned by the MOE and World Bank Project Managements teams

3. DURATION OF ENGAGEMENT

The Project Assistant Accountant will be engaged for a duration of twelve (12) months.

4. PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT

The Project Office Assistant will be subject to a performance appraisal at the end of the contract.

5. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

A full Grade Twelve School Certificate or its equivalent.

c) Personality. Integrity, confidentiality and work in a fast-paced environment.
