ActionAid Zambia has a vacancy for an experienced and suitably qualified Zambian to take up the following position:
1.0 POSITION: PROJECT OFFICER – YOUTH ADVISORY
Duration: 3 Years
Location: Lusaka
1.1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Project Officer will be responsible for supporting ActionAid Zambia work on the Youth Advisory Council in line with the established policies, principles, and operating practices of ActionAid International as well as other standard practices. The job holder will ensure adherence to procedures and policies that meet donor rules and regulations.
1.2 SPECIFIC DUTIES

Support the project planning, coordination, documentation, and communication, all aimed at ensuring the Youth Advisory Lab (YAL) activities are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards

Organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions for the YAL.

Ensure that youth perspectives are incorporated into project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

Provide mentorship and guidance to YAL members to develop their leadership and advocacy skills.

Support members in identifying and pursuing their individual development goals related to youth advisory work.
-
Facilitate the YAL’s review of project plans, monitoring tools, and evaluation frameworks.
-
Raise awareness about the YAL and its role within the organization, local, national and international level.
-
Identify opportunities for the YAL to represent the organization and its work.
-
Help the YAL build relationships with other youth led organizations and stakeholders.
-
Support and facilitate advocacy engagements with key stakeholders including policy makers on meaningful youth participation.

Support the preparation of timely and quality reports in line with AAZ’s M&E reporting cycle
1.3 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
-
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in, development studies, political science or its equivalent from a recognized University.

At least 3 years’ experience in youth work, political governance work, education and learning environment
-
Good understanding of meaningful youth participation in political system and issues such as Governance, Democracy, Civil Society land scape and policy reforms issues in Zambia.

Demonstrable experience in leading and working within influential coalitions and networks.
-
Demonstrable experience in advocacy and campaigns on good governance.
-
Demonstrable experience in building capacity of partners and staff on public governance.
-
Strong understanding political governance and its relation to pro-poor development.
-
Experience of managing partnership relationships; and
-
Understanding of different donor requirements and ways of working.
1.4 ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILL
-
Demonstrable experience in leading and working within influential youth coalitions and networks.

Demonstrate experience working with youth in Politics/ Gender and democracy.
-
Demonstrable experience in youth advocacy and campaigns on good governance.
-
Demonstrable experience in building capacity of partners and staff on public governance.
-
Strong understanding political governance and its relation to youth participation and youth development.

Experience of managing partnership relationships; and
-
Understanding of different donor requirements and ways of working.
1.5 OTHER REQUISITE COMPETENCES
