Chilanga Cement, Ndola Plant, is looking to recruit a dynamic, motivated, enthusiastic and qualified individuals to take up the roles of;

1. QUARRY ENGINEER
Overall Mission of the Role:
To Controls and Coordinates all Mining/Quarry Operations and Crushing operations for the entire Business unit, and to contribute to the best level of performance of plant’s equipment.

Main Responsibilities:
• Quarry optimization, reviewing production efficiencies and trends and process material stocks.
• Institute, co-ordinate and supervise project work aimed at developing new procedures and methods to improve and maintain quality, efficiency and productivity.
Ensure that work methods, processes and techniques are followed through liaison with the Country Mining Manager.
• Maintain in depth knowledge of the condition of all plant equipment on a continuous basis.

Manages the health and safety of employees during the shifts to enable employees observe
safety and domestic regulations with a view to achieving accident free shifts.
• Additional responsibility of managing Contractors on Limestone Haulage.

To ensure good operation at Quarry and Crushing including Four Explosives Magazines Ensuring safe storage and proper usage.
• To supervise drilling operations, charging operations, blasting operations i.e. both Primary and Secondary Blasting, haulage of Limestone and other raw materials and other auxiliary operations pertaining to production of Cement.
• To supervise over all Subordinates involved in Limestone and phyllite haulage.
• Prepare Monthly & Annual Explosives, Mineral Production and Labour returns to Mines Safety
Department of the Republic of Zambia.
To ensures that we comply to any statutory requirement pertaining to mining
• Propose economic ways to extend the life of quarry.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by superiors.
Education background & Experience
• Degree in Mining Engineering.
• At least 3 years working experience in the industry
• Blasting licence holder
• Fully-paid member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia.

Technical Skills

Local Safety regulations and procedures
Cement production process
• Computer literacy, specially CMMS
• Proficiency in Auto CAD
• Problem solving methods and tools (Root Cause Failure Analysis, Risk Analysis).
• Understanding of cause and effect relationships.
• Ability to learn through formal training and work-related experiences.

Leadership & Behavioural Skills
• Result driven (reliability, cost)
• Accuracy and precision.
Good aptitude for field work
• Ability to interact with plant personnel. Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to take decisions.
• Ability to prioritise actions.
• Ability to multitask effectively
