JOB PURPOSE
To help with the processing of records for temporal and permanent preservation. To retrieve information to meet information and research needs of management, staff, and the scholarly community.
KEY RESULT AREAS AND PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Organising Records – List all appraised records and put them in Archival storage boxes in readiness for shelving.
Shelving of Records – Assign location numbers to all boxed records and put them onto the shelves according to their location numbers.
Information retrieval-Retrieve information requested by company officials and other information users for consultation.
Re-boxing – Taking back to storage boxes all records that were retrieved after consultation.
Maintain logbook – Enter the logbook every file that is taken out of the repository for consultation and indicate the purpose for use.
Records inventory and verification – Take stock of all company records that are in the repository and verify the indexes against records contained in the storage archival boxes.
Digitization – Prepare records earmarked for digitisation by cleaning the records and removing the staples.
Carrying out lawful instructions Any other assignments given by superiors
ESSENTIAL/DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
a) Professional Qualifications:
Grade 12 with bachelor’s in Records Management.
b) Minimum Relevant Pre-Job Experience:
Must have worked in a busy archive at least for 1 year
