Zambia Cargo & Logistics Limited (ZCL) was established in April 2001. ZCL is a wholly owned state enterprise of the Government of the Republic of Zambia, supervised by the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) based in Lusaka. The Company’s current corporate Head Office and its main operating centre, Mukuba Depot, is located in Kurasini area, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania next to the dockyard.

Essential job functions

The Company is then looking for suitable candidates to fill in the open vacancy positions for the Freight Forwarding unit in our office located in Ndola, Zambia. The unit will be responsible to develop and implement strategies for efficient freight forwarding operations, oversee and manage the freight forwarding activities, ensuring that strategies are in place to guarantee the availability of financial resources for its core business and sustainability of new partnerships and collaborations.Re

Job Location: Ndola, Zambia

1.0 REGIONAL FREIGHT FORWARDING MANAGER (1) POSITION

Duties and Responsibilities

1. To plan monthly transportation requirements at regional level

2. Ensure that 90% of the required transport capacity is achieved
3. Manage relationships with local and foreign transporters
4. Ensure that the company exceeds freight forwarding customer expectations
5. Approve transport rates in line with the company policies
6. Analyse and inform Management about any potential demurrage or statutory penalties arising from the Freight Forwarding business
7. Issue weekly and monthly freight forwarding reports to Management
8. To manage the freight forwarding team located in all the Zamcargo and logistics operating centres.

9. Contacting potential clients to establish rapport and set up business meetings to promote commercialize able freight forwarding business for the company.
10. Assist in developing business proposals, negotiating contracts, and act as a direct contact point.
11. Participate in business development activities
12. To ensure that SOPs are prepared for all projects and make sure that the staff are following the laid down procedures

1.2 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE

I. Holder of Bachelor Degree in Transport and Logistics from a recognized University.

ii. Minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience in freight forwarding.

iii. Deep understanding of the freight forwarding industry, including regulations, international trade laws, and customs procedures.
iv. Strong leadership, technical competence and professional skills for timely implementation, coordination and management of activities.
v. Ability to work in a team, develop synergies and establish effective working relations

vi. Membership to Zambia Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport is an added advantage
