About the role:
Our client, a leading international company in the
tobacco trade and distribution sector
, is seeking a Regional Sales Manager to lead business development and trade deployment across selected Southern Africa markets. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales growth, building strong distributor and partner relationships, and ensuring sustainable market expansion.
The position requires
proven experience in the tobacco industry
and the ability to navigate regional market dynamics. The role covers the following countries:
South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Eswatini, Angola, Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Duties
-
Shape and drive the business development agenda for the assigned region supporting the organization’s business objectives/operational plan/strategic agenda for the fiscal year, through close collaboration with key internal stakeholders, business partners, and distributors.

Develop a regional business plan meeting individualized territory objectives, identifying, analyzing, prioritizing, and targeting existing and new market opportunities within the region.

Achieve business objective goals related to brand share/volume (Shipment & IMS), profit, distribution, visibility, and stock management for assigned customers and distributors.

Deliver on commercial sales growth objectives and KPIs within the assigned territory in support of the Region and Company goals.

Build business partner and distributor willingness and capability to collaborate with the company on key business fundamentals and drivers to accelerate business growth and increase market share.

Oversee the management of key distributors in the assigned region ensuring progress to the agreed strategic direction.

Facilitate the development of a 3-month demand plan for the responsible area.

Effectively manage the credit risk allocated to respective distributors.

Co-create region-wide brand, trade, and consumer activation strategy/plan for assigned markets.

Deploy Trade & Consumer Activation programs within the territories with timely execution and spend effectiveness.

Proactively propose interventions to regional plans to the Commercial Director.

Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or comparable work experience.
-
Strong background in the tobacco industry is essential.

Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in a multinational or large regional organisation.

Demonstrable experience in a senior trade marketing-focused role, including sales, business development, distributor management, trade deployment, and field marketing.

Proficiency in MS Office applications.
